Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarahi Guerrero.
Sarahi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Sarahi Guerrero, I was born in San Luis De la Paz Guanajuato, when I was ten years old I was brought to the United States by my parents for a better future it was one of the hardest things to do, even more, when you don’t know the language and being bullied because of my race and skin color was difficult but I didn’t let that stop me. At a very young age, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the beauty industry. When I was little, I grew up watching my older sisters do their hair and makeup, even though at that age my mom didn’t allow me to wear makeup my sister would still put some lipstick and mascara on for me. At the end of the day that’s what sisters are for! As I got older, my passion continued. I would always do my classmate’s hair and makeup for any school special event. After I graduated high school, I pursued my career in the beauty industry and I graduated from Regency Beauty Institute, I later worked at two full-service salons. Working at both salons for a few years made me realize that working at a salon wasn’t really for me. I now specialize in the bridal industry and any type of special occasion hairstyling. I work for a company called Thea Ehrmann professional makeup and hair featured on The Knot. I love what I do and I strive to deliver quality work to each client, I love making my clients look and feel amazingly beautiful that’s my number one priority on their special day.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been easy, right before I graduated school I wasn’t able to get a job because of my immigration status until I was able to renew my DACA application at the time I didn’t understand why couldn’t I just be like everyone else. I just wanted to pursue my dream and make my parents proud when they worked so hard for me to be here, they had brought me to this country to better myself and to fight for what I wanted in life. My dad always told me, “You better pick your head up and keep going no matter what life throws at you”, I still live by those words when times get hard. I always encourage everyone to fight for their dreams and to never give up no matter the obstacles.

Who have you been inspired by?
The people who have inspired me in my life is my parents and siblings. Growing up it wasn’t easy my mom and dad worked so hard to make sure we were taken care of regardless of the circumstances my dad would have to travel for work while my mom raised my siblings and I, my mom used to sell cosmetics to help my dad with bills. I know my siblings and I grew up appreciating everything my mom and dad had to sacrifice for us. My three older sisters are now married and have their own families and till this day they continue to inspire me, like they inspired me to pursue my career in the beauty industry, my younger siblings are continuing to work hard for what they want regardless of the difficulties in life.
