Today we’d like to introduce you to Schalea Alvarez.
Hi Schalea, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hey y’all, So I was born & raised in Midland, TX also known as the 432, you know the small oil field boom town out there in west Texas. I now live and reside in a small town called Needville, TX, a little suburb town surrounding the Houston area. I been here for the past eight years. I am happily married to my high school sweet heart of nine years; we were long distance relationship & I’m also a full time mom of three kids. I am a self-taught photographer & have always had a passion for photography. I first picked up a camera back in March of 2014, my daughter had just turned a year and I was seven months pregnant with my son. I did my first Easter Mini setup of my daughter and I had posted it up on fb with no intention of booking any sessions whatsoever until I started getting messages of people asking me if I take pictures now & that’s how Avalasting Impressions Photography was started. To this day, I always go back to my very first picture that I’ve taken and compare it to my most recent. And I must say, I have Grown so much and I’m still learning every day and it amazes me. I also get asked “What is behind the name Avalasting?” Or “Why did I choose that name for my business. Ava, was the name I chose for my first born daughter who passed away in 2012 due to birth complications. I was 26 weeks pregnant when I lost her. I wanted to keep her name alive and I thought it would be amazing to have her be a part of my Journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, the first three years of living here in Needville was absolutely the hardest. I moved to a place where I didn’t have any close family or friends that I knew. So getting started in Photography over here was definitely a challenge and I wasn’t able to book anybody. So I took a break from doing photography and I just recently jumped back in July of 2020 and since then my business has been booming. I encouraged myself to be a go getter and get out their because people will not know of you unless you put yourself out there.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So I am a self-taught photographer, I been in business for seven years. I specialize in Maternity, Newborn, Children, families, couple’s, holiday themed minis. I’m mostly proud of is how far I’ve come in this industry. The thing about me is that I love interacting and engaging with other local photographers even though we are all at different levels we all get that same amount of support & I love that!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
My studio is Located in Richmond TX.
