Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Fields.
Hi Angel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a little girl I always wanted to grow up and do hair. That was my dream to own my salon and live the fabulous life. I wanted to be the rich auntie before the term “rich auntie” was a thing. Well life had different plans I got pregnant then decided I had to make different choices. I got married had two more kids and life started taking a form on its on and the dream I once had was far behind me. Fast forward to 2008 the company I was working for laid me off so I decided to chill at home some for the first time since I was 14 years old. Well that was short lived because I started to get bored at home every day so I decided to start a new hobby which was learning to apply makeup to myself. I had got so good at it my friends and family kept asking to do theirs at first I’d say no because I felt I only perfected on my face but soon that was found to not be true. I was encouraged to do a group of ladies and their pure reaction to the makeovers encouraged me to birth Make Me Over Angel. I did makeup solely for about 4 years before decided to start doing nails. I’ve been a Houston based makeup and nail artist since 2008.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My personally journey has not been smooth but all the obstacles I encounter wasn’t nothing too bad I could handle. The biggest one to me when I started doing nails breaking into that industry was challenging. I’d hear all the time (even now for time to time) I didn’t know black girls did nails. Black woman would question if my workmanship would be good IF they gave me a chance. I’ve always guaranteed my work so that was never my issue but with why they gave so much trust to the Asian community without question but someone that look like them they did.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Houston based makeup and nail artist. I known for the naturally enchanted makeup artist. For the nail side my clients come to my for great workmanship, awesome energy, and someone that will take care of their nails.
