Today we’d like to introduce you to April Solomon.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
One Stop Tot was born from a moment that didn’t go as planned—but turned into something even greater.
It all started with our youngest daughter’s first birthday. We had a vision for a celebration we’d never done before. The theme was “ONE for the Books,” and we went all out: soft play, bounce houses, ball pits, even a bubble house. For the first time out of raising five children, I finally knew a lot of kids around my child’s age. It felt like the perfect moment to celebrate big.
But when her birthday arrived, she got sick with a fever and just like that, the party never happened.
At first, it felt like a disappointment. But sometimes, what feels like a setback is actually a setup for something greater. I truly believe God allows certain things to happen for a reason—and this was one of those moments.
Rescheduling wasn’t simple with five kids and a busy life, but something else had already been set in motion. Instead of renting, we had invested in everything ourselves because deep down, we were already dreaming of starting a party rental business.
And just like that, what was meant for one little girl’s party became something we could share with so many others.
That’s how One Stop Tot came to life.
Today, we proudly serve Houston and surrounding areas, creating elevated, safe, and unforgettable experiences for the littlest guests. The ones often watching from strollers or held close in their parents’ arms. The ones who deserve spaces designed just for them to play, explore, and celebrate.
What started as a canceled party became a calling.
Now, every setup we create carries that same intention: to turn moments into memories, and to make every celebration feel like it was meant to be.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building this business hasn’t been easy.
Houston is a big city, full of opportunity but it’s also easy to get lost in the mix. The party rental industry is crowded, and finding that balance between pricing too low and undervaluing your work, or pricing too high and missing opportunities, is a challenge every single day. Staying visible, staying relevant, and staying profitable takes intention.
And then there’s social media, where everyone is competing for attention. Growing a brand, putting yourself out there, and trusting that the right people will find you requires faith, consistency, and patience. Through it all, I’ve committed to always putting my best foot forward and being ready to serve when the opportunity comes; using the gifts God has placed in me.
Behind every event, there’s a side most people never see.
The prepping. The cleaning. The loading and unloading. The late nights designing, cutting, printing, and airing balloons. The early mornings setting up before the party even begins. It’s not just parties, it’s hard work, long hours, and dedication.
And in the middle of it all, there’s family.
With five kids, this business is built in the margins of real life. It’s a balance of showing up for my clients while still being present at home. It’s sacrifice, but it’s also purpose.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in creating elevated, joy-filled experiences for children—primarily ages 5 and under—while offering a wide range of rentals for all ages. Our services include soft play, sensory tables, luxury picnics, bounce houses, bubble houses, and custom balloon installations. Every setup is thoughtfully designed to turn ordinary events into unforgettable celebrations.
What we’re most proud of is that this business is built and operated by our family. Every detail you see—from the soft play layouts to the final styling touches—reflects our hands, our creativity, and our commitment. It’s truly a labor of love.
What sets us apart is the intention behind everything we do. Yes, we’re a business and we value profitability, but our deeper purpose is creating meaningful moments. We design experiences that families can enjoy, remember, and hold onto—because we understand just how special those moments are.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There are so many meaningful ways to support and collaborate with One Stop Tot, and every bit of love truly makes a difference.
