Life & Work with Araybia Wilson of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Araybia Wilson.

Hi Araybia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I personally got started by transitioning to pescatarian and being mindful of everything I was doing. I had a spiritual awakening. I was always creative and interested in expressing myself with fashion. I had an LLC created and as I moved forward with that process I came up with three different names. One happened to be Higher Divine. I had a lot of down time and decided to start out with releasing 3 trucker hat designs giving tribute to Houston Texas. My family moved to Houston after Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana.
Today Ive launched overseas with different pop-up shops and fashion shows. I also soft launched HYRDIV(higher divine) the Podcast where I use this platform to help others in the spiritual and mental health niche.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of my struggles was staying consistent. Language barriers with different vendors and manufacturers. Some of the product getting damaged in shipping. Paid promotions that didn’t have a good enough impact on my brand. Personal issues with being in the Military and managing a business at the same time. Not being available for a few business events. Not being able to hire help.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a sergeant in the US Army, in the food service Culinary Arts field. I supervise and manage to sum it up. I also deal with weapons and armory. I am know for going after it and getting the mission done without asking questions. I can get anything done individually and also as a team/leader. Im proud of having those around me surpass in their career and get recognition and promotion for their hard work. I have a different mindset. I can motivate anyone and lift them up. I will fight for or with them. I let them know how much they can control and that the picture is bigger; there is no need to stress about it that much.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The thought of risk taking reminds me of the famous quote: “no risk, no reward”. Scared money don’t make no money. Ive taken a lot of risk. A big one was leaving my family to join the Army. For my brand Ive had to use my own personal money to fund my business. Ive taking risk being vulnerable with one another and expressing how I felt about certain things. I took a risk trying zip-lining for the first time. Risk can be good. Just go for it with positive intentions. Little by little to help build towards something.
