Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlyn Lea
Hi Ashlyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I arrived in the hair industry in 2022 because I’ve always had a passion for creativity and working with people! Even from a young age, I was drawn to styling and experimenting with different looks, and I realized that becoming a hairstylist would allow me to blend my love for art with a desire to make people feel confident and beautiful. I started by attending Aveda, where I honed my technical skills and learned the foundation of the industry. Over time, I’m refining my craft, continuously learning new techniques, and establishing myself as a creative and skilled stylist. Now, I look forward to the future ahead of me and all the new opportunities, education, and amazing hair besties I’ll be meeting in this amazing career!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a hairstylist hasn’t always been easy—there have definitely been challenges along the way. From the physical demands of standing all day to managing the fast-paced nature of the job, it hasn’t been without its tough moments. There have been times when clients’ expectations were high, or when navigating difficult schedules felt overwhelming. But it’s in those moments that I’ve really thrived. I’ve learned how to adapt to unexpected situations, stay calm under pressure, and develop strong communication skills to understand and meet my clients’ needs.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a hairstylist, I specialize in lived-in color, impactful blondes, & blended brunettes. I’m known for my ability to create personalized looks that not only suit my clients’ styles but also enhance their natural features. What sets me apart is my attention to detail and my focus on making every client feel heard and understood with my communication skills, which allows me to tailor each service to their unique needs. I take pride in creating a comfortable, welcoming environment, where clients feel relaxed and confident during every visit. What I’m most proud of is building long-lasting relationships with my clients and seeing their transformation—both in terms of their hair and their confidence.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe that taking risks is an important part of growth, especially in a creative industry like hairstyling. I’m not someone who takes unnecessary risks, but I do think it’s crucial to step outside of your comfort zone to challenge yourself. One risk I’ve taken was experimenting with advanced coloring techniques and offering services I wasn’t fully familiar with, which required a lot of learning and practice. For me, risk isn’t about being reckless—it’s about taking calculated chances that push me forward and help me grow as both a stylist and a person. It’s also about finding that balance between being confident in what I know and open to learning new things that may seem intimidating at first.
