Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Mills.
Hi Briana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
HER Exodus is a non-profit organization originating in 2025. The brewing of HER Exodus began in mid 2024 when my children and I became face to face with constant situations that impacted us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. It seemed as though everyday of our life we were hit with something different, and no matter how we tried to make detours, come up with plans, and move forward there was just no light at the end of our tunnel. Waking up day after day i found myself stuck on “Repeat” not living but just existing and going through the motions of life, trying to make due with the hand I was dealt, while still trying to maintain being a present mother for my boys. On the last Sunday in 2024 after leaving a powerful church sermon i found myself parked outside, my mind was racing, emotions were everywhere and all i could do is cry out to God. Thatsbwhen I heard a small voice say “Mama it’s going to be OK, God got us!” I look up and see my two boys standing in the car door, but instead of them crying, they were smiling and wiping MY tears. I instantly snap out of my episode as i hear my inner thoughts yelling at me “Pull yourself together, your babies can NOT see you fall apart like this!” As i go to gather my belongings out of my vehicle i hear a song playing on the radio “This is my EXODUS” and thats when i knew God was speaking to me. I realized that through this journey i never once stopped and allowed God to lead me. I wanted to question God and ask “Why Me?” but the real question is “Why NOT Me?” In that moment i was reminded that without a TEST there is no TESTIMONY, and that Gods spoken words to us are “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” but he never said the weapon would be easy to endure. From that day forward i vowed to unapologetically devote my life to God and lead my sons in God’s word. In the year of 2025 God gave me and my babies back everything the enemy stole from us, and placed it on my heart to create a safe, non judgemental space for women who may be going through a dark season and may not see a way out. In August of 2025 HER Exodus has started and is thriving with the support of my dedicated members: Shanitra, Ta’Rori, Etyra, Tiara and my motivation behind it all, J’uan and Jo’Siah, Her Exodus is continuously growing and eagerly spreading the encouragement, and continuous Faith in God’s word.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Creating Her Exodus has not been easy, but not because I’ve faced road blocks, but because of my own inner thoughts. I didn’t think that anyone would want to gather and listen to someone who isn’t an Ordained Minister, Pastor, Apostle, or Evangelist, or even entertain the thought that a young mom, who still possess imperfections, but is determined to live for Christ would speak something into the world that may make a difference.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
HER Exodus is a platform for women of all ages to grow and glow in God. I specialize in creating monthly meetings for women to gather and release the outside world just for a moment and open their hearts, minds, and soul to God and his word. What sets me apart is that I am not known on a public platform for Religion. I am just a Woman of God looking to provide other women who has the desire to seek God, a place of peace, no judgement, as we learn and discover God together.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is knowing that even though i encountered what i list as one of the most unbearable times in my life, I am still here to speak life into other individuals who may need it. As well as knowing that i may be far from perfect, I am raising two AMAZING boys who have made it so easy for their mother to just be human..
