Life & Work with Coby Rich

Today we’d like to introduce you to Coby Rich.

Hi Coby, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
What’s up H-Tine? My name is Coby Rich and I’m an award-winning filmmaker here in Houston. I’ve been at it for over 15 years with stops in local news, college athletics and working 5 years in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals. During my time in the league, I was fortunate to win 4 Emmy awards and work with some of the biggest names in the sport. That early success really helped instill a lot of confidence in my work and let me know I was headed down the right path.

My creative agency, Get Rich Productions, has been operating independently in Houston for the last five years and it’s been an amazing ride. The journey has been filled with plenty ups and plenty downs but the freedom of working for yourself and creating something from scratch is absolutely worth the hustle.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to get here was never easy. I quit my job five years ago with no real idea of how my bills would be paid but something inside me knew it was the right time. If you want it bad enough, you will find a way to overcome any obstacle and push forward.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At my core, I’m a storyteller. I love to bring brand stories to life and tap into the essence of what makes them special. My goal with every project is to elicit a strong emotion from the viewers and let them feel connected to what they’re watching.

I’ve recently expanded into independent filmmaking with my debut short film, The Long Strange Trip Backyard. The film won awards at film festivals all around the country and has inspired me to continue pursuing my passions.
