Hi Cool Ricky, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in a small town in Mississippi, just 80 miles south of Jackson. Music was a constant presence in our home, with a rich blend of Blues, Soul, Country, Jazz, and Gospel filling the air. After more than 27 years in the music industry, I can tell you it’s been a challenging ride.
I signed my first recording deal while immersed in the Blues genre, but that experience was far from ideal. Once the contract ended, I ran in the opposite direction as fast as I could. It was then I realized I wanted to be an independent artist, to have full creative control and to own my own record label, which I proudly do today.
After a brief stint in the Blues scene, I shifted my focus to Soul music, where I found some success and had the chance to travel the country, meeting countless amazing people. Yet, something was still missing. I felt a deep urge to explore my artistry in a different way—one that would let me tap into my heart and soul. That’s when I turned to Country Music. I’ve always been drawn to its storytelling, the Southern sound, and the simplicity of its delivery.
So, I began experimenting with various sounds to find what truly resonated with me. I believe that if you have a genuine passion for something, there’s an audience out there waiting for you—you just have to find them. Pursuing something unconventional often requires taking extraordinary steps to succeed, and that’s exactly what I did. I blended my soulful vocals with Country Music, creating a unique sound I call “Country Soul.”
Next, it was time to put my new recipe to the test. I recorded Chris Stapleton’s rendition of “Tennessee Whiskey” and served it up to the audience. The response? They loved it! Millions of likes and hundreds of thousands of shares on Facebook, along with millions of views on YouTube—and the numbers keep growing. Through perseverance, I carved out my own niche in the music industry, forging my own path.
I truly believe that anyone can do the same by following their passion and creating their unique journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road; there have been all kinds of challenges. This business can be quite unpleasant, to say the least. It’s very hard to find people you can trust who truly have your best interests at heart. I’ve had managers who wanted to manage me while simultaneously trying to steal from me. I’ve spent thousands on marketing professionals and seen zero results. Finding the right musicians has been a significant struggle. Getting radio stations to play your music as a new artist can feel nearly impossible, and dealing with promoters who don’t have the funds you agreed upon is another hurdle altogether. Even through all of that, I still love what I do.

I’m a proud independent recording artist who loves writing, singing, and performing.
I specialize in creating music videos for timeless classic songs, ensuring that we never forget the incredible artists and their music.
Known for my soulful sound and emotional delivery, I strive to make each performance resonate deeply with my audience.
I’m very proud of the success of my monetized YouTube channel, which has been the result of hard work and dedication. It’s truly rewarding to see it paying off.
What sets me apart is my strong passion and love for what I do. This drive has allowed me to carve out my own niche—what I call “Country Soul.” I’m grateful to have found fans from around the world who embrace my art, and I cherish each and every one of them.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Reading my fans’ comments brings me so much joy. Knowing I’ve touched someone’s heart with a song puts a big smile on my face—it truly means everything to me. This is what gives my work purpose.
