Life & Work with Cruz Green of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cruz Green.

Hi Cruz , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
full name is Cruz green I was born in Lafayette Louisiana but I mainly grew up in bunkie Louisiana with my grandparents

I started finding an interest in music at the age of 10 years old. I didn’t know exactly how to write music yet alone rap, but all I knew that I wanted to make music how I seen lil Wayne, Kevin gates, drake, meek mill, did

I never wanted to make music just like them but I seen how great and talented they was and that caught my attention more then anything else kinda.

When my dad got out of jail he took my sister, my brother, and myself from Bunkie Louisiana to port Arthur Texas.

Around this time moving to a new state and city was different but all I had in my head was music and how to make music.

Sooner then later my dad put a studio in our home and he started making music and beats just playing around with it seeing what he can do.

When ever he would go to sleep I’ll sneak in the studio room record 3-4 songs a night. And I had to be up for school in the morning.
I did that all Thur middle school and high school

When ever I moved out in 2018 and went to school in San Marcos i discovered my sound my flow and how I wanted to show myself as an artist.

Fast forward to 2019-2020 I was in the process of moving to Houston to take my music career to the next level and when I moved to Houston that August of 2020

I hit the ground running and never looked back since I made the connection the sound the image and fan base when I came to Houston at the time I didn’t know what I was doing but all I knew was. I didn’t wanna fail or give up on my dreams.

In 2024 I came across this PR lady name Jules. She really helped take my career to the next level as an independent artist in the game. She put me in front of many of opportunities. I been on iTunes Charts I hit the top 20 with my single 7 grams of weed.

I also hit top 40 with my mixtape “Mrpossie” on iTunes as well

And my latest tape “Possie mode” is in the process of touching charts as well. Im currently in the process of putting out my 2 album “before I go”.

My team and I are working on a date to release it but as of right now the tape is 99 percent done and I’m ready to drop and go crazy

Also this July I got booked for my first show in La around the north Hollywood area thanks to my mom. she really help me sell my tickets for the show and she really helped me promote it just to get the word out there more

But I made alot of connections and made a lot content to take back home to show my fans and my community

I will be back in October as well so untill then I’ll see u soon LA

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nahh it haven’t always been smooth on my music journey. It’s was a lot of hard times it still is as an artist that work so hard and just would do anything to be successful.

Even when it might look like enough to me it’s still never enough. I remember when I couldn’t even get 100 views on a video or a post or anything in that nature.

I had to work hard and really be patient only time could tell and as of now it’s telling me everything I need to know

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make music im a independent artist and what im mostly proud of in my music journey was when i made my first 1200
Dollars from a song i made in 2020

It’s currently on SoundCloud with 1.4m streams. I recorded that song in 2020 and it didn’t start getting motion and bring in money untill 2024

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I always wanted to be great I played soccer in school I played bad and football but when I got into middle school I got into band.

And band had me hooked, I stop playing all other sports and stuck with band all Thur our school

Other then that I’m in my room recording songs on my phone just to practice on how to be a better musician
