Today we’d like to introduce you to David Dixon.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well, it all started in 2013. I wanted to do a photo shoot for my birthday not knowing it’d lead to me having an interest in modeling and acting. A good friend of mine by the name of Lisa Rogers said I should it. Did the photoshoot and the photographer says I’m photogenic and should pursue it. Next thing you know, I did my first runway fashion show at Beyoncé Knowles House of Dereon. From there, I went on to do short films as extra working my way up and learning the industry. Then another good friend (Isiah Carey) news reporter asked me to do a segment on Fox 26 Houston. I became a regular. He then became a host of Fox Soul which led to me becoming one of the first to appear on Fox Soul. Different opportunities began to present itself. Later, did a reality show on CW 39 (CoParenting w/ The Spurlings. Not knowing, 2019 I would get my big break. I received a role on OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) hit reality show Ready To Love. This opened up a lot of doors. Just finished filming two movies. Both should be released this year (Jacob, Broken by God) and (10 Reasons why men cheat). Also, was offered a job as an ambassador for Wink N Drink new meet now app.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely been a struggle trying to balance my regular 12-hour shift job in the chemical plant, working out, managing a relationship all while trying to act and model. Determination and dedication is what’s been getting me through and knowing the outcome in the end.
