Life & Work with David Williams of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Williams.

Hi David, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is David, I’m 27, and I’m from Baltimore, Maryland. I started acting at 15, doing print ads and industrials after encouragement from my mom and my 11th-grade English teacher. When my mom found a casting call for a short film and I booked it, something clicked I knew this was what I wanted to pursue.

At 19, I moved to New York City to study the craft, training at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Billie Holiday Theatre. When COVID hit, I returned to Baltimore and took that time to rebuild recreating scenes from films, sharpening my skills, and eventually stepping into creating my own short films.

At 22, I moved back to NYC with a stronger sense of purpose. While working as a production assistant to expand my knowledge of the industry, I continued creating short films, developing my voice not just as an actor, but as a storyteller behind the camera.

In 2025, after losing my mother, I relocated to Houston to be closer to family. That shift grounded me in a new way and continues to shape the stories I want to tell.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road it’s been tedious, and at times heavy. Pursuing this while grieving can either define you or break you, and I’ve had moments of both.

I believe pain can shape you as an artist it forces you to be honest and to dig deeper. Losing my mother changed me, but it also gave me a different level of perspective and purpose in the work I do.

I’m grateful for the challenges because they’ve stretched me in ways comfort never could. No matter what, you have to keep going we all do.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in theatre, commercial, and film acting. I enjoy each medium for different reasons — theatre keeps me connected to the craft, commercials have strengthened my versatility, and film inspires me through storytelling and reach. I’m proud of my dedication, adaptability, and ability to bring authenticity to every role.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Stay consistent it’s a marathon not a sprint.
