Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Quinn.
Hi Debbie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Equine Salt Therapy is based in Australia and has built salt chambers for horses all over the world. The therapy was originally developed and tested on race horses by scoping them and measuring mucus buildup in their airways. The results showed clearer airways and healthier lungs.
When I first saw the opportunity to own a turnkey equine salt therapy business, I didn’t jump immediately. I researched. I asked questions. I deep-dived into the science and benefits of halotherapy. I wanted to be sure.
After a lot of thought, I decided to move forward — and I officially launched in August 2025.
I’m proud to be bringing this patented Australian system and Ulti Salt to Houston and the surrounding areas. The salt has natural antibacterial properties and supports clearing mucus and maintaining healthy lung function in a gentle, drug-free way.
Since starting, I’ve seen incredible results:
• Supporting horses with allergies and breathing challenges
• Helping clear airways and reduce mucus buildup
• Assisting with skin issues and summer sore recovery
• Helping older horses feel more comfortable and energized
I strongly believe prevention is powerful. Supporting a horse’s respiratory health before there’s a major issue is one of the best gifts we can give them.
We’re preparing to begin working at Sam Houston Race Park, and I’m especially excited to see how race horses respond — knowing that this therapy was originally tested on racehorses.
As the exclusive territory owner for Houston and surrounding areas, my vision is to expand with a second trailer and a team member on the north side of town so we can serve even more horses across the region.
As a lifetime horse enthusiast and owner, this isn’t just a business to me.
It’s about helping horses breathe better, recover better, and live better.
And we’re just getting started.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have definitely been bumps along the way. Adjusting to our humidity, modifying the trailer, and introducing a completely new therapy to this area has required patience and persistence. But each obstacle has made the system better and deepened my commitment to making this work for our horses.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
After retiring from the City of Houston following 27 years of service, I wasn’t looking to slow down — I was looking for purpose. Equine salt therapy has become the most exciting and meaningful new chapter of my life.
