As a child, De’Jay was known for his exceptional ability to imitate legendary singers like Sam Cooke, Gerald Levert, and Michael Jackson. His talent was so captivating that classmates would stop him in the hallways to hear him sing, and people would call him just to brighten their day with his voice. His grandmother, recognizing his gift, would often put him on stage at the family café, where his performances had the audience applauding and singing along enticing an early passion for music.
Inspired by the nightingale, known for its beautiful and resilient songs, De’Jay channels his own adversities into heart-stirring music. His notable tracks, including “STARZ,” “Stay Strong,” “Family Reunion,” and “By Da River,” reflect his journey and transformative approach to music. His diverse range spans R&B/Soul, Zydeco, Country, Pop, and Afrobeat, defying genre constraints and showcasing his versatile talent. Today, De’Jay continues to make waves, proving that, like a nightingale, his artistry cannot be confined.

It hasn’t been smooth, but I didn’t come into this expecting it to be easy. I’ve faced the ups and downs of the music business, lost relationships, and even struggled with finding myself along the way. Despite these challenges, I never lost my passion for creating heartfelt music.

I’m known for my ability to blend these styles seamlessly and for my unique, emotive voice that resonates deeply with listeners. What sets me apart is my versatility and my commitment to using my music to address personal and universal struggles. Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The COVID-19 crisis taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience. It showed me how to connect with my audience in new ways, using virtual platforms and creative approaches to continue sharing my music. The experience reinforced the value of staying true to my passion and finding strength through challenges, while also highlighting the need for community and support during difficult times.
