Today we’d like to introduce you to Derrick Ross.
Hi Derrick, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Southwest Alief, Texas. I began writing music in 2001-2002 and transitioned to engineering beats in 2006. My older brother’s influence led me to write music and produce songs. To this day, I am working on a book titled ‘Senior Year.’ At 35 years old, I have three children: Jasmine, 19, Derrick Jr., 17, and Angela, 16. In addition to my music endeavors, I am also a skilled tattoo artist.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
More like ups and downs. From studio equipment malfunctions and software changes, I must adapt, learning everything anew, from vocal equalization to beat engineering.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I possess a diverse skill set, having acquired knowledge and expertise in various fields, including HVAC maintenance, tattoo artistry, songwriting, book writing, and barbering, all of which I have learned through self-directed study and practice.
