Today we’d like to introduce you to Diego Sanchez-Ayala
Hi Diego, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Initially I was working a 9-5 coming out of high school thinking this was the only way to provide. An individual I was close to at the time then, put a camera in my hand and told me to take their pictures and from then on I got deemed “Fuego”; everything I would create was fuego aka FIRE. From then on I became intrigued on how technical and complex it was too actually film and edit. I thrive when there are challenges set forth and treated it like a new video game; I became very good very fast. It was right at covid time where I just had a mindset flip where I just knew how good I was and could see where it can take me and just went ten times harder to become the most prolific and creative graphic designer; not just a photographer or videographer. I went through a lot of ups and downs, falling outs, and personal emotions of feeling inadequate, but I believe I went through a lot to prepare me to not dwell on what may not have went my way but to choose to change how I respond to adversity. I get so much gratification seeing someone salivate over an idea that I can bring to life. I now can say my resume of work, creativity, and the relationships I’ve built over the years are a product of everything starting to come together naturally and getting to work for some of the hottest artist and upcoming entrepreneurs in and out the city.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, from losing close individuals throughout my life due to violence, drug abuse, or just wrong doings.
Not being able to even afford certain items such as a laptop or accessories
Balancing going 1000 percent to become the best graphics person in the city and then having a child without feeling guilty on missing out on important events.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I started with taking pictures, which led to then filming videos, and essentially led me to start creating graphics such as flyers, cover arts, logos, clothing graphics, and even real estate mockups. I have always wanted to be the person who could say “I can do it all,’ so If someone would ask me if I could do something I really didn’t know, I would go learn and find out. One of the things I can say I specialize in the is telling a story with my graphics. I tell my clients all the time anyone can edit but I’m going to tell a story with my edits and visuals.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
On how diverse and large it is. What I least like about is with it being a large city everyone thinks there graphic designer, photographer, or an editor just because they downloaded canva, or they got a new digital camera, but I get it they got to start some where. Just know when someone competes with me they better bring it.
