Today we’d like to introduce you to Eleasah Anderson.
Hi Eleasah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Eleasah( El-Lee-aye-say) Anderson and i Started off as a collegiate football player from Alief Taylor High School, played for six years. I played two years at Baylor, three years at Sam Houston State, and one year at Western Michigan. Won a national championship at Sam Houston State, was also all-WAC second-team conference player, and also had preseason accolades as well. After that, ended up Going to Randle high school and became a substitute teacher, wanted to get my feet wet to see how It was becoming an educator and then I want to give a huge shout out to Coach Brian Randle for giving me the opportunity to come to his school to give me the opportunity to learn about education and then I took it serious, passed my test for special education, and then I got my first job as a head football coach at Lamar Junior High went their and both the A and B team won a district championship and I want to give a shout out to Coach Brandon Allen for hiring, giving me my first job at Lamar one and then that next year I decided that I want to coach high school football to coach the position that I played in college, which is offensive lineman. Then after that, I coach track as well coach shot put and discus, had athletes broke lots of records at schools and different things, and now I’m at Gene Tomas high school continuing my success, and I am excited for our very first year of varsity football..
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely haven’t been a smooth road for sure. There was times where I took the test and failed. Didn’t know if I want to continue teaching or not, but after that I decided that I wanted to, you know, really become a teacher, step my game up by studying harder, finding different resources to study, and then I was able to come out on top. One thing that I can learn is when you’re on the road like that, when storms come, just make sure that you go through it and don’t bail out. Don’t look for somewhere to cover. Go through the storm, go through the hard times, go through the adversity, and you’ll get what you want
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So I am a special education teacher. What I do is go into the classroom to support students for their diagnostics to make sure that they get everything they need, whether it’s schoolwork, whether it’s social skills, or whether it’s counseling. We do everything for the student to make sure that they succeed in the classroom, make sure they’re not behind, make sure their work is done, but when I’m really known for as well as coaching, I also do coaching as well. I coach football. I coach track. Last year, I coached football, wrestling, and track. I also was a special education department chair, and I was also in control of networking and branding with social media, so it was definitely fun for sure. What sets me apart from others is that I love to work in my work. Work Ethic is very high. The reason why I say that is because, you know, I find ways to work. One thing that I learned from the armed force or really the Navy was that no matter where you at in life, if you feel like there’s no work, find work. There’s always something to do. There’s always something to learn. Don’t be satisfied with the position that you’re in, but make sure that you understand that when you’re in that position, you feel like there’s nothing to do. Find something to do. There’s always something to do. Always there’s something that you did not finish. There’s always something that you was almost finished with. There’s something that you can start on. Like, it’s always something to work on is what I learned.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I can say my favorite childhood memory was when I first got my first scholarship in high school from the University of Louisiana. I wanna give a huge shout out to Coach Hartman, Coach Lanza. The whole Andy Taylor staff during those years for supporting me and pushing me to become a divisional athlete. There was times where I wanted to quit, but I did quit, but they were there every step of the way. They pushed me to be successful, and that’s the reason why I’m here, but my first ever scholarship was my favorite childhood memory because it’s hard to get a divisional scholarship when Coach calls you or even text you to say, hey, we’ll love to offer you love the way you play. We love how you are. We see what type of person you are. That motivates you and gives you that drive to keep going. I can say another childhood memory, honestly, was going to the monster trucks events. I love seeing those monster truck destroy cars. It’s very loud, so you gotta make sure you got headphones, but it was really fun and exciting to be able to experience that just being able to see that, you know, gives me like an officer of mind. Moto is like become a monster truck, destroy everything, put your everything in life and make sure that it’s completely done when you finish. So I always love that motto.
