Today we’d like to introduce you to Federico Gomez-naranjo
Hi Federico, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a journalist and communications professional with an unwavering passion for fashion that has shaped my journey for over 15 years. About a decade ago, I turned that passion into reality by founding Púrpura Vestidos in Colombia—a brand dedicated to making women shine on the most significant days of their lives. From proms and homecomings to weddings, galas, and red-carpet moments, our dresses have been designed to celebrate confidence, beauty, and individuality.
What started as a small independent boutique soon grew into a nationally recognized brand, dressing not only everyday women but also celebrities, beauty pageant contestants as Miss Universe Colombia. Yet, through it all, our mission remained the same: to help every woman feel radiant and empowered in a dress that is as unique as she is.
A few years ago, I embarked on a new chapter, moving to the USA to continue my fashion journey. After deep market research and e-commerce experience, we decided it was time to create a physical space where women could truly experience our designs in person. That dream became reality with our first brick-and-mortar store in Old Town Spring, Texas. Here, we remain committed to curating stunning, limited-edition dresses by working with independent designers—bringing Houston-area women the most exquisite pieces to celebrate their most unforgettable moments.
At the heart of it all, my mission is simple: to make every woman feel extraordinary, one dress at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy and smooth road.
To start leaving the comfort of a stable, well-paid job to pursue a dream is always frightening. Adding to that we have to understand the local market and preferences while offering a unique selection of dresses for every woman. That means extensive market research while working very long hours behind the curtains to get the best fabrics, designs, and styles possible.
Separately, we are still in a growing and developing phase, where our US brand, Feco di Fiori, needs to be more well-known
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think im trying to provide a unique, empowering experience for women where we have small collections, limited editions and unique taste and style.
I also focus on collaborating with talented independent designers who bring fresh, creative perspectives to the dresses. This means the dress you buy stand out from mainstream options, offering quality, craftsmanship, and exclusivity.
Last, but not least, my journey from Colombia to the USA brings a unique blend of Latin American elegance and international fashion trends, creating a one-of-a-kind selection that isn’t found in typical U.S. boutiques.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
To work, work, work and work again.
Having a permanent drive for innovation, creativity and always listening to the women who come to our stores either just to visit or to shop. There is always room for improvement and the success of the brand is to always keep pushing higher.
Pricing:
