Hi Gladys, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Gladys Reyes. I am 28 years old. I am from Mexico. I got married 13 years ago and have lived in the United States for 12 years.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A few days before my first audition, I found out I was pregnant and therefore my audition was postponed. After the birth of my baby, I got fit again and then I contacted the designer we scheduled another casting but I realize I was pregnant again! and therefore my audition was postponed. After the birth of my second child, I decided to enroll in a modeling school where I gained experience on the catwalk. I was able to pay for my own professional photo shoots. Then, I began introducing make up and photography sessions on social media. As I gained more experience and self-confidence, I decided to join modeling groups on Facebook and photographers began to contact me. It has been a year since my modeling career began and one of my goals is to become a runway model. I feel that everything fell into place in my life in due time. I feel very fortunate to have it all: my two children and a dream that I am pursuing.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently a photography model and I record my own sessions for my youtube channel. Another goal I have is to make future models aware of the modeling profession, and also record videos about makeup.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Being a model is not easy. Each goal has a process – Consistency is a key factor. The risks you may take will challenge your willingness and ability to proceed with your goals. And for this reason, I have set up a youtube channel for women that have an interest in becoming models or for those pursuing a goal in their lives. I would like to share my story to show others that dedication and hard work can make your dreams a reality.
