Life & Work with Haley Fountain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Fountain.

Haley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Like many people in my field, I had many health issues growing up! I had a LOT of gut issues growing up including acid reflux that was so bad it would wake me up! I suffered from painful, irregular periods and I also had terrible allergies/asthma. I finally got to a point in my early 20s where I was tired of being prescribed pill after pill and decided to take my health into my own hands. Through trial, error, and a LOT of research, I learned how to heal my body through diet & lifestyle and was able to get off all of the medications I was taking by age 22.

In 2018, I started blogging about my experience and my blog quickly grew. I knew I wanted to impact people on a deeper level, so when the world shut down in 2020, I enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and got certified as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Shortly after that, I got board-certified with the International Association for Health Coaches (IAHC) and got my advanced accreditation in hormonal health.

Today, I support high-achieving women in balancing their hormones, increasing energy and living their best lives! I work with a lot of women who have been diagnosed with a hormonal imbalance and are seeking more natural ways to manage their symptoms, women with fertility issues, and women going through menopause.

I love educating + empowering women in all areas of their health including their hormones, their menstrual cycles, stress management and sexuality.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When it comes to my business, I’ve certainly had some speed bumps! No one tells you how lonely entrepreneurship is. You don’t have a boss to give you a “gold star’ when you’ve done something well, and you don’t have colleagues to give you a pat on the back. You also don’t have anyone but yourself holding you accountable to doing the things necessary to keep your business moving forward. Entrepreneurship is such a roller coaster and really helps you learn about yourself. It requires discipline, resilience, and most importantly- you have to be your own hype woman! Also, sometimes you might have a vision for something and no one else gets it. That’s okay- you have to be your biggest advocate and believe in your ideas and your abilities.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and I specialize in hormonal health, gut health and women’s sexuality. I work with women 1:1 and in group settings to help them learn about their own bodies and find more holistic remedies to their health issues. I also host fun, interactive workshops for women to learn and connect with other women who are on a similar journey! I’ve helped dozens of women get their periods back after not having one for months/years, I’ve helped women with PCOS manage (and sometimes reverse) their symptoms naturally, and I’ve helped many women to find natural solutions to make menopause more comfortable. I’m really grateful for the opportunity to serve my community and give women the knowledge & resources that we NEED to look & feel our best.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I’ve learned SO many lessons from the pandemic. What sticks out most for me right now is the importance of human connection. Humans are social creatures and we are not meant to be isolated. Connecting with other humans daily is SO important (especially if you live alone). Hugging someone you love releases SO many feel-good hormones that literally help you live longer. Studies have found that elderly people live longer when they have something living in the house- even if it’s just a pet. We MUST be around others.

While we can’t always get a hug or a puppy snuggle on demand, we can find creative ways to connect with other humans. Call someone you love. Ask a friend to meet for coffee. Plan a potluck dinner and invite 3 new people that you want to get to know better. Plan a FaceTime date with a friend who lives in another city. Approach the conversation with curiosity and ask them questions about their lives. Make a connection and relational health a priority and it will change your life!!
