Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Perez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a kid I always knew I wanted to grow up to do something with music but as I got older I saw that it was just a dream so back in 2005 I joined the Army where I would travel to different states. After my training I was allowed to go out to bars and clubs which is where I first learned how to DJ. I would end up at Fort Hood, Texas and would frequently visit a country club that was called Starlite Station in Killeen, TX. I met a DJ there and actually ended up working for the club as well and that is where he taught me how to mix. I got out the army a few years later and had to find a career, I went through all different types of professions throughout out many years! In 2018 I got married to my amazing wife and during dinner one night I mentioned ” I think I want to DJ again!”. During this time covid had just made its break and I was working full time as a hydraulic hose technician. During dinner I applied for a Guitar Center Credit card and went straight to the store and bought everything I needed and went home and downloaded music and practiced every chance I got! After a few months I thought maybe I can go back to working at a bar again and that is where my exposure was introduced. My first paid gig was a wedding in Galveston for $300 and I loved it! Right after that my wife who was with me mentioned she wanted to be a coordinator so I went and bought her everything she needed to do that as well. Together we started advertising to do weddings and the more weddings I did the more I fell in love with it. Eventually over time we had got so many inquires we had to finally separate and do our own events without each other. At this time I had quit my other job to find a job with better hours and closer to home. Time goes on and I am booking maybe 10 weddings during covid for my first complete year, second year it doubles. As of the end of 2025 I have performed at over 200 weddings and I am already booked into 2027 and doubled last years bookings. I also quit my full time job August of 2024 to create DJ Isaac Ent. and runs that full time and I have hired 5 different DJs that specialise in weddings and different styles of music. Today I sit back and think how when I was a kid I knew I wanted to work with music but I never knew I would be the owner of my own Wedding Entertainment company.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There has been some struggles with bookings especially in a city where there is a competitive field of wedding DJ’s. I would have issues with finding my price point and how to advertise. I finally found a way to advertise with great content creation and different ways to capture future clients attention. I like to show my potential clients what their dance floor can look like and what I provide as a service.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a professional Wedding DJ! The most important day in most couples life is their wedding day and all their family and friends are there to witness this moment, I provide the entertainment portion and sound system for their day! I am most proud of having the capability to read the crowd and know what song to play to have people dance their night away! I think what sets me apart from most DJs is that I never tell my clients no, I listen to what their needs are and if I can not do it I will find a way to make their wishes happen.
What matters most to you? Why?
The most important thing that matters to me is that I am able to provide an experience for my couples to remember for the rest of their lives.
