Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Carlton.
Hi Jamie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2009, I left my teaching days behind to pursue my real dream of hopefully one day owning a boutique. With the encouragement and support of my husband, I started Cowgirl Junkie, traveling all over Texas doing any shows that would let me in. From small Church shows & local Fall Festivals to Round Top, Canton Trade Days & Junior League Holiday markets, I traveled all over gaining experience and meeting many great people, all with my mom in tow!!
In 2012 I was blessed with the opportunity to open a co-op shop in Tomball, TX which was the start of the Turquoise Door. It was filled with hardworking, creative women that each owned their own businesses and shared space within the Turquoise Door. As things and people evolve, several of these women moved on to pursue their own dreams and opened their own stores.
In 2018, with the help of two fabulous ladies, I decided to make the store my own. The hard work, blood, sweat & tears that Robyn and Kim have poured into the Turquoise Door have absolutely made this store what it is today, and I’m forever grateful. Our goal is that you walk away with a smile, and hopefully love this little store as much as we do! Thank you for shopping small businesses and helping my dreams become a reality!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There was a lot of panics when covid started but it ended up being a blessing for us. The time we were closed allowed us to really focus and grow our website business for one. And then it was total gangbusters for us when we opened back up and hasn’t slowed down since. We are a small business that came out bigger and stronger.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a women’s lifestyle boutique that carries apparel, gifts, shoes and accessories. We are always on the hunt for the latest trending goodies. We try to carry a little something for everyone, a one stop shop. We just celebrated our 10-year anniversary in June and are super proud to still be going strong.
