Jim, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always dabbled in woodworking since I was a little kid. Around 30 years ago I began working in the kitchen and bath industry making and installing kitchen cabinets…..which are nothing more than a box to put stuff in. I began to design organizational components to make lives easier, no more bending down, and adding much useable space inside the cabinets. Thus the sliding shelves were born. Imagine having a bad back or bad knees and you have to crawl inside your base cabinet to find something. No more. My shelves slide fully outside the cabinet box with all contents fully in front of you without bending. They are ADA approved (Americans with Disability Act).
Today we design various organizational features for cookie sheet storage, cutting board storage, and other bins for odd items. Our biggest success is adding sliding shelves to the bathroom vanities. The half shelf in kitchen cabinets are of little value but bathroom vanities have no shelf and that is where you store the smallest bottles, cans, tubes, jars etc. We put a full width that goes right around the J-trap plumbing for maximum storage.
Is your dinner time war-cry “I can’t find anything in these base cabinets? What’s more work? Finding what you need to cook from those cluttered base cabinets or the actual cooking. Organized people just don’t feel like bending down and searching for things. Life is what you bake of it. But how hard do you have to dig into your base cabinets to find the pie pan?
If you never had sliding shelves for kitchen storage, you don’t know what you are missing. If you have had them, you know you would not live without them.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I can’t think of many bumps in the road to success. Like any business, it is economy driven. Breaking that down, there are “I want it” or “I need it”. What I sell is a need, especially for older people who have a bad back or bad knees and cannot bend over or crawl inside the dark cavernous depths of the base cabinets. Sliding shelves makes everyone’s life easier in the kitchen. Searching for things creates chaos. My sliding shelves eliminates chaos and customers happily pass my name around.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Clutter isn’t just junk in your base cabinets. Clutter is what gets between you and a smoothly prepared meal. There are many major big name cabinet manufacturers out there. I worked for the biggest one of them all as well as a few smaller ones, during those early years there were no base cabinet options. Just the box with that useless half shelf. I heard customers complain about medical issues restricting them from getting at things. I began to come up with ideas. I seen one cabinet manufacture offer sliding shelves but they were 2 inches high where they slid out alright but everything would fall off if the shelf was pulled too hard. I came up with one deep bottom and one average size middle sliding shelf. Some people stored liquor so I came up with deep drawers. Many people have lots of cookie sheets that were just haphazardly piled up. I took care of all those wishes and people were loving it. I hear it from past customers all the time. “NO MORE BENDING DOWN”.
A few individuals tried to copy me. Once I showed the customer my product and they compared it with what others were offering, the choice was always me. The best thing? I love what I do.

I come to your house; I measure each cabinet opening and custom build each and every sliding tray from scratch. The material is 9 ply Russian Baltic Birch which is cabinet grade wood of the highest quality. The finish is UV clear and durable to take a beating. The drawer guides are steel ball bearing full extension.
