Hi Kelilah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Kelilah and I’m a 22-year-old entrepreneur based in Houston, Texas. I am the owner of TheKelilahExperience. My business mainly consist of hair, makeup, and skin care. I started doing hair when I was about 16 years old. I’ve attended Paul Mitchell cosmetology school to further my education with hair and beauty all together at 19. After I departed from Paul Mitchell, I started to take being an entrepreneur very seriously, and I started my business (TheKelilahExperience). My business provides hair services, makeup services, on-the-go hatwigs, skincare, and more!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far, it has been a little bumpy. Everyone seems to tell the good things about being an entrepreneur, but no one explains the rocky road to get there. I am born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, but recently I’ve relocated to Houston, Texas, February of 2023. However, In New Orleans, I always had my steady clientele, but relocating to a different state, it’s very hard rebuilding clientele. Of course, everyone has that person only that they allow to touch their hair, so I’m in the midst of doing a lot of footwork trying to network my clientele back where it was plus more. It’s a very Rocky Road, but it definitely will get there.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Other than being a great entrepreneur, I’m also a Phlebotomist. If you’re not sure what a phlebotomist does, a phlebotomist basically draw your blood and does all of your lab work. I’ve been in the medical field for about 5 years, and I started off as a patient care technician. However, I decided to go back to school to further my education…
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always into beauty. I love taking care of the elderly, & I also love kids! I’m also a social butterfly, I love to meet new people, new vibes, and network with people that are ahead of me
