Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Patterson.
Hi Kendra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
people ALWAYS tell me i need to write a book about my story and my life. My story is truly a great story.
I often say that if you had met me years ago, you probably wouldn’t have imagined I’d be where I am today.
I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, in an environment where survival was often the priority. I was a teenage mother, raising children while trying to figure out who I was and who I wanted to become. The odds weren’t exactly stacked in my favor. I knew what it felt like to struggle, to go without, to make mistakes, and to have people quietly count you out before you ever had the chance to prove them wrong.
But I’ve always had something in me that refused to quit.
I became a mother at a young age, 14 years young to be exact and my children gave me purpose. They taught me responsibility, resilience, and the importance of creating a different legacy. I wasn’t willing to let my circumstances determine my future. by the time I graduated i was a teenage parent of 4. However, I never gave up. I decided that my story wasn’t going to end where it started.
Twenty-Five plus years ago, I entered the title industry knowing very little about where the journey would take me. I worked hard, asked questions, learned everything I could, and earned every opportunity placed before me. Through long days, setbacks, industry changes, and moments of self-doubt, I continued to show up. I built relationships. I gained trust. I found my voice as a leader and I never looked back.
Professionally, I have spent more than two decades in the title industry, but I don’t define my success by the number of transactions I’ve closed or the titles I’ve held. I define it by the lives I’ve impacted along the way. I’ve had the privilege of leading teams, opening and growing offices, mentoring employees into leadership roles, and producing at a high level in one of the most demanding industries there is. I’ve built businesses through relationships, trust, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. I understand that behind every file number is a family, a sacrifice, a dream, and often years of hard work that led to that very moment.
One of the greatest honors of my career is that every single day, I get to play a small part in helping people achieve what many consider the greatest gift of all the American Dream of homeownership. I have sat across the table from first-time homebuyers receiving the keys to a home they never thought they could afford, families upgrading to accommodate growing children, investors building generational wealth, and sellers closing one chapter while stepping boldly into another. Those moments never get old. In an industry built on deadlines and details, I never lose sight of the human side of what we do. To me, this business has never been just about title insurance or closing transactions. It’s about creating experiences, building legacies, and reminding people that dreams really can come true with hard work, faith, and the right people walking alongside you.
But my greatest transformation wasn’t professional it was personal.
There came a point in my life when success, titles, and accomplishments weren’t enough. I had to heal. I had to confront who I was behind closed doors. I had to surrender my plans and seek God’s direction for my life. Through faith, I discovered that being successful and being whole are two very different things. God didn’t just elevate my career; He transformed my heart.
Today, I lead with a different mindset. I don’t believe leadership is about having the loudest voice in the room or the biggest title on the door. Leadership is about serving people, empowering others, and helping those around you recognize their own potential. I strive to lead with authenticity, compassion, accountability, and excellence.
I am proud to be a woman in business. I’m proud to be a mother. I’m proud of the life I’ve built. But more than anything, I’m proud that I never allowed my past to disqualify me from my future.
From the streets of New Orleans to the boardrooms of the title industry, my journey has taught me that your beginning does not dictate your ending. Your setbacks don’t have to define you. With faith, determination, hard work, and a willingness to grow, it’s possible to rewrite your story.
If my life represents anything, I hope it reminds people that no matter where you come from, God can take what was broken, sanctify it, and turn it into something beautiful. You don’t have to stay who you used to be.
I’m living proof of that.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not. It has been anything but a smooth road.
The truth is, some of my greatest lessons came through some of my greatest struggles. I grew up in New Orleans and became a mother while I was still a teenager. I had children to raise while trying to build a future for myself, often learning life lessons in real time with no roadmap and very few safety nets. There were moments when I questioned whether I was good enough, smart enough, or capable enough to sit at the tables I had worked so hard to reach.
Professionally, the title industry is not for the faint of heart. It’s an industry built on deadlines, problem-solving, and carrying the weight of everyone else’s expectations. There have been seasons of economic uncertainty, difficult transactions, leadership changes, rebuilding teams, and having to make tough decisions that affected not only me, but the people who depended on me. I’ve had to prove myself in rooms where I was underestimated, navigate change when it wasn’t comfortable, and learn that leadership often means making unpopular decisions for the greater good.
Personally, I have endured heartbreak, disappointment, betrayal, and seasons that tested my faith in ways I never imagined. There were times when I was pouring into everyone around me while running on empty myself. But those moments taught me resilience. They taught me boundaries. They taught me that strength isn’t pretending you have it all together it’s finding the courage to keep going when everything inside of you wants to give up.
What I’ve learned is that struggle isn’t the opposite of success; it’s often the pathway to it. Every setback taught me something I couldn’t have learned any other way. Every closed door redirected me toward the opportunities that were truly meant for me. Looking back now, I wouldn’t change much of my journey because the very things that tried to break me ended up building the woman and leader I am today.
I’ve learned that you can come from humble beginnings and still lead with excellence. You can survive hardship without becoming hardened. You can experience failure without accepting defeat. And with faith, perseverance, and a willingness to keep showing up, you can turn your pain into purpose.
My road wasn’t smooth, but it was meaningful. And I think that’s made all the difference.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For more than 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of working in the title industry, specializing in residential and commercial real estate transactions. As a Branch Manager, I oversee operations, lead and mentor teams, cultivate relationships with agents and lenders, and ensure that every transaction moves from contract to closing with excellence, efficiency, and integrity.
Over the years, I’ve become known for my ability to lead through relationships. I believe people do business with people they trust. I’m known for being accessible, solution-oriented, and fiercely committed to the clients and professionals I serve. Whether it’s solving a complicated title issue, navigating a challenging closing, or encouraging a team member to recognize their own potential, I lead with both urgency and heart. I don’t believe in simply identifying problems I believe in finding solutions.
What I am most proud of isn’t necessarily the production numbers, the offices I’ve helped build, or the leadership positions I’ve held. It’s the people. It’s the employees I’ve mentored who have grown into leaders themselves. It’s the clients who return year after year and trust me with their families, friends, and referrals. It’s the countless individuals I’ve had the honor of sitting across the closing table from as they received the keys to a home they once only dreamed about owning.
What are your plans for the future?
YES, i’m looking forward to retiring,. I am the Kae-Kae of 8 grandchildren ALL BOYS!! I’m looking forward to spending more quality time traveling with all of them.
