Life & Work with Leila Wolfe of East End

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leila Wolfe

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am the owner of Wolfe Strength gym and the founder of Clutch City Kitties, a non-profit cat rescue, in the East End area of Houston, Texas. I have a Bachelor’s degree from University of Houston in Retailing and worked in retail management for over a decade including managing one of the highest volume Target stores in the greater Houston area. After beginning my own fitness journey, I left corporate retail to become a full time coach and help others. I competed and coached in Crossfit for many years before making the swap to Olympic Weightlifting in 2020. I was a coach and athlete at Bravura Weightlifting for several years before taking over the business and re-branding it to Wolfe Strength in late 2022. I am excited to continue to grow my gym based on my passion to help people get strong and healthy. In addition to my passion for helping people on their fitness journey, I am a huge animal lover and have been doing rescue work my whole life. In early 2024, I legitimized my cat rescue efforts by starting my non-profit, Clutch City Kitties. My cat rescue focuses on TNR (trap-neuter-release) work to help with the overpopulation of street cats and improve their quality of life. I am very grateful to be able to help people and animals through both of my small businesses.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Even after running other businesses, big and small, there are always obstacles in running your own small business. No matter how much money, expertise, time and energy you have, there are always going to be things out of your control. Most of the struggles I have faced in owning my own business are related to finding balance.. My biggest advice to anyone looking to start their own business is to make sure you are resilient and flexible, but also set strong personal boundaries to ensure that you are taking care of yourself. With my cat rescue, many of my struggles were related to physically setting up the non-profit and having to set limits on what work I can take on in my free time. I used a group called ESCH Houston to help me navigate the formation of my 501c3 non-profit, and I hope to gain more volunteers to allow my small rescue to help more cats in the future!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have now been coaching for around 12 years. While I specialize in coaching Olympic Weightlifting and Crossfit, I am very passionate about the benefits of strength training for EVERYONE. I am known for meeting people where they are on their fitness journey, whether they are brand new to working out or are a competitive athlete. At Wolfe Strength, I currently coach and offer several classes, group training, personal training and also host several seminars and weightlifting meets throughout the year. I am motivated to help my clients achieve and sustain their goals inside and outside the gym to live a healthier lifestyle.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel that being resilient is a very important quality to being successful as the world is constantly changing and you have to try to keep up!
