Today we’d like to introduce you to Leroy Thomas
Hi Leroy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Leroy Thomas discovered his spiritual and artistic gifts at an early age. A native of Houston, Tx, Leroy was introduced to music and fine arts during the early years of his educational journey as he excelled as a young musician playing several instruments. It wasn’t until his teenage years that the gift of singing broke through to the surprise of many. Leroy began singing in the youth choir at his home church, only to be thrust into the forefront as a lead singer. As he came to know his gift, Leroy’s confidence as well as his ability matured into the gifted minstrel that is on display in this season. It was in the Lord’s church that Leroy learned of Christ and became a baptized believer. The atmosphere created was conducive for him to learn and grow and become an effective worship leader and Psalmist. For several years, Leroy has been honored and humbled to serve in many capacities to bring souls to Christ and to offer biblical, practical, and sound doctrine to deepen and strengthen the believers’ knowledge and relationships with Christ. Through his experience as a servant, follower, teacher, leader, advisor, Chaplin, Youth Minister and Assistant Pastor & worship leader, Leroy became well equipped to advance, achieve and excel in the role and call of ministry. It’s been through all these roles and the Lord’s call, that Leroy can exercise his God-given gifts, talents, and visions to guide, administer, collaborate, develop, empower, and counsel God’s people according to God’s Word and will for our lives. In February 2022, Leroy Thomas was signed as a new artist to the Nelms Music Planet label as the first male solo gospel artist. June of 2023, Leroy released his hit debut single “Right Here Right Now”. May 2024, Leroy collaborated with his label mate Tina Nelms and Grammy & Stellar award winner Mali Music on the release of hit single “Turn it Around. Leroy is set to release his riveting Christmas cover of the Classic “O Holy Night in December 2024. Expect new original music at the top of 2025! Leroy’s hope and prayer is that his music will reach all nations and touch the hearts of God’s people as continues to progress throughout his career.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My artist experince has been a learning process yet a rewarding process. Coming in there were many things that I just didn’t know. I was a complete novice about the business. I had to learn how to establish relationships in this business. I had to face the reality that everyone I encounter doesn’t have my best interest at heart. Some are just out to pad their pockets and polevault themselves off your accolades and success. What has been most beneficial to me is the team that i’m surrounded by. The team at Nelms Music Planet has sheilded and protected me from the wolves of the music business! My Ceo Nina Nelms, Tony Marshall, Jeff Robinson and a host of other great people have helped me navigate through the perils and peaks of the music industry and I’m forever indebted to them.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

He’s spent his recent years serving his home church as a Praise and Worship Leader. In February 2022, Leroy Thomas signed as a new artist to the Nelms Music Planet label as the first male solo gospel artist. In June 2023, Leroy released his debut single, ‘Right Here Right Now’ which earned the #23 spot on The Internet Radio Chart, consistently charted in the Top 100 on Media Base and peaked at #69 as well as #1 on The Urban Influencer Chart!
In 2024, Leroy performed at The 2024 Soar Awards and is preparing to release a collaborative single with his label mate Tina Nelms and Mali Music entitled, “Turn It Around”! Leroy is currently touring on The Wave It Ill tour across the United States. With hopes of releasing new music in late 2024 and 2025, Leroy has his hopes set on making an impact as he continues to melodically evolve into the artist God has purposed for him to be. His sincerest desire and hope is that his music will reach all nations and touch the hearts of all people as he continues to progress throughout his career.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My number one word of advice and encouragement would be seek the Lord in all your endevours so that his will would be performed in your life. So many times we dream things up in our heads because we desire to see things come to past the way we’ve envisioned them. Our ways are not his ways, neither are our thoughts like his. Stay prayerful, stay watchful and stay committed to who you are as an artist and a creative and plans will unfold the God has predestined them to.
