Today we’d like to introduce you to Lissette Garza
Hi Lissette, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I fell in love with photography during college while studying advertising. Back in 2010, I had the idea of starting my own photography business and even purchased all the necessary equipment, but I never quite had the courage to take the leap. Fast forward to 2020, when everything shut down, and I found myself pulling out my camera to capture my own maternity session. After having some not-so-great experiences with photographers, I realized there was a need for something more meaningful and decided to offer families a photography experience truly worth cherishing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was finding the confidence to actually start my business after years of hesitation. Even once I took the plunge, balancing family life and business has been a constant struggle, especially with three little ones at home. Learning how to wear multiple hats—being a photographer, a business owner, and a mom—wasn’t easy. There were moments of self-doubt, especially in the early days when I compared myself to more established photographers. But over time, I’ve learned to embrace my unique style and trust the process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I offer a personalized experience from start to finish, really taking the time to care for my clients and their unique needs. I’m most known for my newborn photography, which is something I’m truly passionate about. Many of my clients start with me when they have their first baby and keep coming back for milestones and holiday portraits as their families grow. What sets me apart is the focus I put on creating a warm and welcoming experience. I understand how important these moments are, and I want my clients to feel like they’re in good hands, every step of the way.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is that my clients feel truly valued and seen. I want them to know they’re not just another booking, but individuals with their own stories, moments, and memories that deserve to be captured in a way that reflects who they are. It’s important to me that they leave their session feeling special, knowing I care about them not just as clients but as people. That connection is what drives me, and it’s why I put so much thought into every detail of the experience.
