Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Milburn.
Hi Mariah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started long before I ever launched a business. At a young age, I always felt I was meant to be impactful — to create, to influence, and to build something of my own. I’m proudly from Baltimore, and a lot of my foundation comes from the environment I was raised in. Hustler culture was instilled in me early by the powerful Black women around me who showed me what it meant to work, provide, and make something out of nothing.
I started working young — at just 10 years old, I had my first babysitting job. Between the ages of 11 and 14, my aunt would hire me to work alongside her doing custodial services for businesses, which taught me discipline, responsibility, and the value of earning my own money. Even before that, I was always creating — cooking meals in the kitchen by the age of six and writing my own songs. I’ve always had that natural drive in me to build, create, and express.
My childhood wasn’t the most gentle or easy, and I experienced a lot that forced me to grow up quickly. But instead of letting that define me, I made a decision early on to take control of my future and create a life that felt aligned with who I truly am.
Around the ages of 15 to 17, I became intentional about changing the direction of my life. By 17, I was working my first traditional job at KFC, where I learned structure and consistency — but I knew I was meant for more. I began praying for opportunities that truly fit me — something purposeful, something bigger.
That’s when my entrepreneurial journey really began while I was in college and working childcare.
I started with a small accessory business called Shady Glam, which eventually grew into a fashion boutique known as Imperfectly Chic Boutique. What began as a simple idea turned into a passion for fashion, branding, and helping others feel confident through style. Now, I’m evolving that boutique into a full clothing brand — one that reflects my growth, my story, and my vision.
At the same time, I stepped into another space that aligns so naturally with who I am — hospitality and experiences. I now operate a traveling mobile bartending and catering business, where I create luxury experiences and unforgettable moments for my clients. It’s not just about serving drinks — it’s about curating a vibe, an energy, and a memory.
Alongside my businesses, I’ve also built a presence as a content creator across TikTok, Threads, YouTube, and Instagram, where I share my journey, inspire others, and show what it looks like to build something from the ground up.
My story is rooted in resilience, faith, and evolution. Everything I’ve built came from a place of believing I could create more for myself, even when my circumstances didn’t reflect it yet. And as I step into this next chapter with my clothing brand launching soon, I know this is only the beginning of something even greater.
“I didn’t wait for opportunity — I created my own wave , even when all I had was tears, prayer, vision, and hustle instilled in me.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My environment was my steuggles, lack of support in various ways.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Baltimore-based entrepreneur specializing in luxury mobile bartending, catering, fashion, and content creation. I’m known for turning everyday services into elevated experiences that feel intentional, stylish, and unforgettable to my clients.
I’ve built my brands from the ground up, including my evolving fashion brand, Imperfectly Chic, and a mobile bartending business centered around creating full vibes, not just services.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend creativity with business — everything I create is designed to leave a lasting impression.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see myself and my businesses making Billions. Not only for myself but also to give back and create and/or recreate something bigger than us all. (Im big on mental, emotional, soulful, physical health and not everyone have been fortunate to have that genuineness).
