Life & Work with Miraj Bhakta of Sugar Land

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miraj Bhakta.

Hi Miraj, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my journey in the wedding industry as an assistant to a wedding planner who specialized exclusively in South Asian events. That role gave me my first real look at how much heart and detail goes into every celebration. From there, I transitioned into a Venue Manager role at a property in Katy, where I managed day-to-day operations such as client inquiries, social media content, tour scheduling, and coordinating tastings and meetings for couples. I also oversaw event logistics, including staffing, bar orders, valet services, and vendor coordination.
Later, I joined a décor company as a designer, which allowed me to tap into my creative side and work directly with couples to create custom designs and bring their visions to life was exciting and rewarding. After spending a few years in that role, an former coworker who had become a close friend and I were presented with the chance to start something of our own and that is how Evermore Design Haus was born.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth, but every challenge has helped shape who I am today. One of the first hurdles was adjusting to new teams while stepping into leadership roles. Learning how to guide, support, and manage people with different working styles was a big shift, but it taught me patience and adaptability.
Becoming a business owner brought an entirely new set of challenges. Suddenly, I wasn’t just focused on the creative side — I had to look at the bigger picture of management, finances, operations, and strategy. Balancing the multiple perspectives of running a business while still delivering exceptional designs and experiences was overwhelming at times, but it pushed me to grow both personally and professionally.
Through those struggles, I’ve learned how important it is to stay resilient and focused on the bigger vision. Each challenge has ultimately made me a stronger leader and a better creative partner for my clients.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Evermore Design Haus, my work revolves around designing and executing custom event décor that feels deeply personal to each couple. I specialize in taking a client’s vision and translating it into a cohesive design that tells their story. Whether it’s through elaborate floral structures, unique stage designs, or intimate details that guests notice throughout the event, my focus is always on creating an atmosphere that feels unforgettable.
What I’m most proud of is the trust our clients place in us. Being invited into one of the most important moments of their lives and being able to bring their dreams to life is something I never take for granted. I think what sets me apart is the balance I bring between creativity and logistics. I love designing bold, imaginative concepts, but I also understand the behind-the-scenes details that make those designs possible. That combination allows me to deliver not just beautiful events, but also smooth, stress-free experiences for my clients.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I see the wedding and event industry becoming even more personalized and experience-driven. Couples today are moving away from traditional “cookie-cutter” designs and instead want celebrations that reflect their story, culture, and personalities in unique ways. I think we’ll continue to see more emphasis on custom design elements, interactive guest experiences, and thoughtful details that make events feel one-of-a-kind.
Technology is also going to play a bigger role. From virtual planning tools to AI-driven design previews, couples will expect more ways to visualize and customize their events before the big day. At the same time, sustainability is becoming a huge priority. I think more clients will be asking for eco-friendly options, reusable materials, and designs that minimize waste without compromising on beauty.
Overall, the industry is shifting toward creativity, inclusivity, and innovation. It’s an exciting time to be part of it, because the possibilities for design and storytelling are only expanding.
