Today we’d like to introduce you to Mosunmola A.
Hi Mosunmola, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my Bookstagram journey in April of 2025 when I finished writing my PhD dissertation and I just knew I had to rest. I wanted to enjoy what had made me interested in English and Literary Studies, the novels and stories. So, I planned to have a reading vacation, started reading everyday and then I decided to start documenting my reading and reviews. So, I picked up my phone one day, recorded a quick review of a book I had read and it was wonderful to see people connect with my review and thoughts. I really liked engaging with fellow book lovers and so, I continued and it has been a wonderful journey.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not really. There are times when I feel discouraged when sharing reviews and posts. I sometimes wonder if I am reaching enough people. There are times when I take a break from it all and just immerse myself into reading. That’s a way to remind myself why I started
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Outside of my bookstagram life, I am a Yoruba feminist who is passionate about the representation of and depiction of Yoruba women in Nigerian culture and socio-political discourse. I am a teacher of literature and writing. It has been an interesting journey, one that started since I was 17 years old. I enjoy teaching and introducing students to literatures around the world. I also love guiding students in critical thinking, critical reading and helping them become better writers.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is peace of mind. It is looking at my environment and being at peace.
