Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Ponciano. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Natasha Ponciano is a Canadian-born, Houston transplant. Yoga has created a sense of purpose in her life, fueled by passion and positivity.
After a severe car accident leaving her with a broken neck in 2014, yoga has made a progressive impact on her life, mentally and physically.
Natasha’s flows tend to follow an upbeat and energetic pace- her “ode” to modern yoga. That being said, she wanted to dive deep within the roots of it all, and pursue her training in an authentic and traditional atmosphere. She completed her initial training in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Tickled by Eastern philosophies, the next chapter of Natasha’s journey took her to a remote ashram in the foothills of the Annapurna Mountain ranges. There, in the Himalayas of Nepal, she completed her 300 hours. (RYT 500)
Her mission as a teacher is to spread that joy, energy, and understanding to her student’s breath by breath. Giving them a safe space to get lost in their own authenticities, to grow and bloom.
As the newest lululemon Ambassador, Natasha enjoys spending her time in Houston soaking up the incredible culture exploring food and music. “Travel, EAT, play, sing, laugh, learn, and live free.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Does any great adventure ever go the way it supposed to?
“Every experience, no matter how bad it seems, holds within it a blessing of some kind. The goal is to find it.” Is one of my favorite quotes that I revisit often.
As a first-generation Canadian of Vietnamese and Filipino descent, my options in life were limited according to my mother. Doctor or Lawyer. So I chose a lawyer. As I was studying for the LSAT, I realized that one of the reasons I wanted to practice law was so that I could afford to open up my own yoga studio.
When the global pandemic hit and I was awarded time and stillness to think. I decided to open up my own studio without following the path of law school.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are all of those things at Lost Lotus. A professional, creative business.
Lost Lotus Yoga Studio is dedicated to providing a unique and creative yoga experience in a boutique setting. Honoring all yoga styles and practices intuitively, and accepting everyone exactly as they are. Connecting and understanding to your highest most authentic self, through practice, play, self-love and self-care.
What sets us apart from other studios is that we aim to create a safe space for students and teachers to get lost in the idea of being the best versions of themselves by simply being themselves. A place where you can bloom wildly without judgment.
We are degenerates and misfits just trying to make it, day by day.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
That beauty is found in imperfections. As a struggling perfectionist, I’ve learned success is not earned through perfection. You have to realize that as long as you’ll show up, and try your best, the people and the community who truly matter will recognize your intention, not the “perfection”.
After every class I close with: “The perfectly imperfect student in me bows, honors and respects the light within you.” My community teaches me something every day.
