Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikita Amadi.
Hi Nikita, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hey! I’m so grateful to be here! Thank you, Voyage Houston, for the opportunity. I’m a Nigerian-American artist raised in Houston, Texas, and music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started singing/playing drums at just three years old, and by eighteen, I made the decision to pursue music professionally.
Growing up in a Nigerian household while being surrounded by American culture really shaped my perspective and my sound. I pull from genres like R&B, Afrobeats, and Pop. For a long time, I felt pressure to fit into just one box, but eventually, I realized my strength is in blending them all into something uniquely mine.
My music reflects both confidence and vulnerability. I gravitate toward light melodies, and I love creating songs that embody healing not just for me, but for whoever’s listening.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Wow, that’s a great question. I wouldn’t say it’s been easy, but it’s definitely been worth it. As an independent artist, you wear a lot of hats; you’re the manager, the creative director, the marketer, and the artist all at once. It can feel overwhelming at times, but it’s also made me stronger and more intentional with everything I do.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to keep God at the center on both the good days and the challenging ones. That grounding has helped me stay focused and keep going when things felt uncertain.
I’ve also learned the importance of gratitude; showing love to the people who support me, no matter how big or small the gesture, and making the most of every opportunity that comes my way. Every moment is a chance to grow, connect, and elevate.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a singer-songwriter, performer, and creative, and I’m best known for the energy and connection I bring especially on stage. Performing live is one of my greatest joys, and it’s where I feel most aligned with my purpose.
What really sets me apart is my ability to see people and let them see me. My brand isn’t just about music; it’s about creating genuine connection. I never want to feel “out of reach” to those who support me. I show up as myself.. flaws, faith, joy, and all. And I think that creates a “long-term friend” kind of energy that people can trust and grow with.
What I’m most proud of is that the Nikita Amadi brand is fully me. Every piece of it; the wins, the hard moments, the faith that grounds me. It’s all real. And every success is a we did it moment. I wouldn’t be here without God, my family, my team, and the people who support and believe in me.
At the end of the day, my goal is to keep creating art that makes people feel seen, heard, and uplifted because we’re in this journey of life together.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Q: Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Honestly, the little things make me the happiest. A good hair day, a plate of my favorite food, or even hearing someone laugh unexpectedly. Those small moments really fill me up. I love seeing people smile, whether I know them or not. It reminds me of how contagious joy can be.
Beyond that, creating music that touches people brings me so much happiness. Being in the studio, writing from my heart, or performing live. Those moments remind me I’m walking in my purpose.
I also find happiness in peace; being surrounded by people I trust, feeling grounded in my faith, and having quiet time to reflect. It doesn’t take a lot to make me happy, but it does take presence. And I try to stay present in every moment.
