Hi Redd, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
My name is Jalynn Known to many by Redd Kocaine’
I’m an artist, mother, fashionista, businesswoman, and entrepreneur. I have been writing since I was nine, raps, poems, books, songs you name it I’ve been writing it. In 2020 I recorded my 1st song and hated the way my voice sounded recorded, so I took a year to work on my sound, what beats work great with my voice, basically finding my sound!
In February of 2022, I recorded “Klout” and loved it I found. My sound and the direction I wanted to be heard in the music game.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
More like Detroit roads lol, Definitely not smooth my first music video I shot which was to “Klout” which Was shot in Detroit the person who shot my video lost all my footage I was so pissed!
I was on a time crunch because I had a radio interview an I wanted to premiere it there!
So that pushed me back so now I had to find someone to shoot that video over finding time to shoot that video while working on new music, working a full time job and of course being a mother.! Nothing comes easy but the success I plan on having will be blissful. I just wanna say “START”. You can’t give up if you never started you don’t know where yo passion can take you unless you “Start”.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a songwriter, rapper, actress all-around entertainer! What sets me apart from others is I write my own music, versus whatever you wanna call it I select my beats and I don’t and won’t do anything that I feel is morally unethical to me! I write for others as well. I’m trying to put on for female rappers from Detroit.
What’s next?
Plans for the future I’m definitely hoping to gain more fans, more of a support team, hoping to get my music played everywhere, radio, elevators, soundtracks, wherever. More collaborations, features more videos, increased income and hopefully signing to a label that lets me market and do my own creativity and be my own brand advisor! I want Redd Kocaine’ to be a household name. I plan to be known for my sound!
