Life & Work with Rj Crawford of Charleston, SC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rj Crawford.

Hi Rj, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Long story short, my career started in an unexpected place. I joined the Army just a week after high school. At the time, I felt like the black sheep of my family and needed to get as far away as possible. What was meant to be a new start turned into ten honorable years of service, including multiple deployments. During those years, even while serving, I stayed focused on my passion for music and film. I released two international albums — Overdose on Reality and Trap Urkel — and worked with promoters to bring American and Korean artists to perform in Korea. I had the opportunity to work with acts like Sean Paul, Krayzie Bone, Travis Porter, Young Joc, and several rising Korean artists.
Toward the end of my service, I became disabled, and transitioning back into civilian life was extremely difficult. Without much support, I found myself homeless for a brief period. Eventually, I made my way back to Charleston after moving through a few states trying to figure out my next path. That’s when I made the decision to go to college for film. It clicked immediately — everything I learned connected to my experience in the music industry. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA and made the Dean’s List.
Since then, I’ve built a career as a professional videographer and the CEO of my own company, Canned Kulture. I’ve worked with major brands on advertising campaigns, including three Super Bowl commercials, and I continue to dedicate time to supporting local small businesses in Charleston.
Today, my life has taken on a new direction. I’ve given my life to God and am working on my first Christian album, Subzero, planned for release in late 2026 and featuring artists like Taurean Jorell, Sy Ari Da Kid, and others. I’m also writing scripts for films I want to create, and potentially a book.
Wherever this next season takes me, I’m ready for change, growth, and success.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is easy, and struggle is a way to grow and learn, so without the hard times the good times wouldn’t mean anything.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for being mysterious, and talented in aspects of creating things, I specialize in film and advertising music and art. writing is one of my passions and what sets me apart from everyone else is I’m 1 of 1 comfortable being known for the underground scene, and I’m most proud of the fact that I do what I want to do.

What’s next?
I plan to make a movie, or an animated series, I want to have something on Netflix, Prime, Hulu, or any major streaming company. I want to write a book or possibly a series of books. I would like to work for WWE or any wrestling promotion. I’m a huge fan and always wanted to work for a company in that space. I just have so many goals that my brain never stops being creative.
