Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was involved in music, performing, and live events, and over time I discovered that I loved not only entertaining people but also creating experiences that brought people together.
I started DJing in high school, providing music for school banquets, dances, and parties. Before long, friends began asking me to DJ their weddings. As I worked alongside photographers, planners, and other wedding professionals, many of them encouraged me to turn what I loved into a real business. What started as a hobby I loved soon became something I now have the privilege of doing every weekend.
That passion eventually led me to officially launch my business in 2021. What started as a small business quickly grew through referrals and relationships. I realized couples weren’t just looking for someone to play music; they wanted someone they could trust to guide the flow of the day, keep guests engaged, and create an atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable celebrating.
As my business evolved, so did my vision. I wanted my brand to represent more than DJ services, so I rebranded as Rob Pope & Co. LLC. The new name reflects the boutique experience I strive to provide and allows me to offer not only DJ and MC services, but also live music performances and thoughtfully curated entertainment enhancements that elevate each celebration.
Today, I have the privilege of working with couples throughout Houston and beyond, helping them create wedding days that feel authentic to who they are. My approach has always been to serve first—to collaborate with planners and vendors, support my couples throughout the planning process, and ensure every moment flows naturally from beginning to end.
Looking back, I’m grateful for how the business has grown, but I’m even more grateful for the relationships that have come with it. Every wedding is different, and I still love watching a packed dance floor, hearing guests sing along, and seeing couples fully enjoy the celebration they’ve dreamed about. Those moments remind me why I started this journey in the first place.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most small business owners. Building a business means wearing every hat, from sales and marketing to accounting, customer service, and actually delivering the service.
There have been seasons where weddings were booked every weekend and seasons where I wondered where the next inquiry would come from. Learning to navigate those ups and downs has been one of the biggest challenges.
Another significant challenge was transitioning my business through a rebrand. While change can be exciting, it also comes with uncertainty. I had spent years building recognition under one name, and starting fresh with Rob Pope & Co. meant rebuilding brand awareness while staying true to the values that got me here in the first place. It reminded me that a business isn’t built on a logo or a name but it’s built on trust, relationships, and consistently serving people well.
Every challenge has made me a better business owner. They’ve taught me to be adaptable, to keep learning, and to focus on providing an exceptional experience for every couple I serve. Looking back, I’m grateful for the difficult seasons because they’ve shaped both my business and my perspective.

I specialize in creating wedding celebrations that feel personal, seamless, and unforgettable. While I’m known as a wedding DJ and MC, my role goes far beyond simply playing music. I help couples create the soundtrack to one of the biggest days of their lives while guiding the flow of the celebration from beginning to end.
One thing that sets me apart is my approach to mixing music. I love taking my clients’ song choices and creating something unique with them. I specialize in what I call mashup transitions—blending the vocals of the next song over the instrumental of the previous song, then gradually swapping elements like the drums and bass until the transition evolves into a completely new experience.
One of my favorite moments is when guests come up to me during the night. I’m usually expecting a song request, but instead they want to tell me how much they have enjoyed the music and how smooth the mixes have been all evening. Those moments are incredibly rewarding because they show that the music is connecting with people in a way they can feel.
Smooth transitions aren’t just about the dance floor. As an MC, I take pride in keeping the entire celebration flowing naturally. If guests start wondering what’s happening next, I can step in with a quick announcement to let them know speeches are coming up, dinner is about to begin, or what the next part of the evening looks like. When guests feel informed and comfortable, they can relax and fully enjoy the celebration—which ultimately leads to a better experience on the dance floor.
I’m also fortunate to bring a unique combination of talents to my clients. In addition to DJ and MC services, I offer live music performances and carefully selected entertainment enhancements, allowing couples to create a cohesive experience without having to coordinate multiple entertainment providers.
Being invited into such an important day is something I never take for granted. Hearing that couples felt cared for, that their guests had an incredible time, and that they were able to enjoy every moment because they knew everything was in good hands is the greatest compliment I can receive.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to create celebrations where people connect, memories are made, and couples can look back on their wedding day knowing it felt exactly the way they hoped it would.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was a family vacation to South Padre Island when I was nine years old. It was one of those trips where everything felt like an adventure—great food, dolphin watching, carnival rides, and spending time together as a family.
One moment from that trip has always stood out to me. We were eating at a restaurant near the beach that had live music playing, and my dad, who is a professional musician, was invited to sit in and play with the band. I remember watching him perform and having this realization that he wasn’t just talented because he was my dad—other people genuinely admired him and appreciated his gift too.
That moment stuck with me because it was one of the first times I saw the impact music could have on people. It wasn’t just about playing notes or entertaining a crowd; it was about bringing people together and creating a shared experience.
Looking back, I think that moment played a small part in shaping my own love for music and performing.
