Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherry Ryals.
Hi Sherry, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2008, I left Corporate America to become an educator. For the past 14 years, I have educated middle and high school students and trained and managed educators in the United States, the United Arab Emirates and China. The creative side of me has always enjoyed attending open houses and helping friends and family find and decorate their homes. My sister, Christien Jumbe, and I spoke regularly about going into the Real Estate industry together. When COVID forced the USA into a pandemic, we decided to begin our journey.
In December 2020 I enrolled in Champions School of Real Estate to obtain the course requirements for my Texas real estate license application. I took the certification classes during my Winter and Spring Breaks, on weekends and in the evenings. Then I sat for the certification test. Summer 2021, I obtained my license and joined eXp Realty. I enjoyed my time with eXp, but I had a strong desire to be a part of a team that was local and to work on the same team as my sister.
Spring Break 2022 I joined the Sherae Smith Team Powered by Connect Realty. The Sherae Smith Team entails of an amazing group of educated realtors with a passion for enlightening and empowering families to choose the best home financially and emotionally. I joined this team because of the plethora of education provided by the Broker and Sherae, the closeness of the team and my sister’s reviews from joining the team a few months ahead of me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to success has not been smooth. I started my career in the industry as a dual career agent. Joining a new broker and reporting to a new school district within months of one another was a challenge. Both careers required training, on-boarding and planning.
My first Broker held trainings, meetings and events during business hours. This left me feeling disconnected. With the Sherae Smith Team all agents are taken into consideration when trainings and meetings are scheduled. This was a plus for me!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Texas REALTOR®. I specialize in helping singles and families find the home of their dreams. I also help investors secure desired properties in a timely manner. I am known for my patience and passion for getting buyers and sellers to the closing table. I am most proud of serving and developing lasting relationships in both Houston and Beaumont area communities. I am an open-minded, honest, and dedicated REALTOR® that provides my clients superior service and education to aid in helping them make the best decisions throughout their real estate transactions.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel that hard work is the most important characteristic to my success. Television makes the real estate industry look luxurious and easy. It actually takes lots of time, training, dedication, creativity, relationship building, and research for one to be successful in the industry. If hard work is put into these categories a real estate agent is likely to be successful.
