Life & Work with Stephanie Sanchez of Tomball, Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Sanchez.

Stephanie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always loved photos and having photos printed and displayed in my home. I started photography about 10 years ago right after I was married to my high school sweetheart. My wedding photographer was offering a beginners photography class and taught me how to use my camera in manual mode. I was hooked after that. My family and friends became my models, and I became the family event photographer. I’m sure my family probably got annoyed with me always begging them to pose for me but they never showed it and were always so supportive in those early days.

After months and probably years of offering free sessions, I started to get a lot of interest from others to pay me for sessions. So I began Steph Sanchez Photography. At the time, I worked a full time corporate job in logistics, and my photography business was my weekend side hustle. My business was my creative freedom outside of the hustle and bustle of the week. I was primarily focused on family portraits and the occasional senior portraits.

Then came my first baby, who is now 6 years old. He was my own little model. Everything he did I photographed. From his monthly milestones photos to his kindergarten photos. I captured it all. He loved the camera and still does.

Fast forward to 2024, I left my corporate job to stay home with baby #2 and to focus on Steph Sanchez Photography full time. I started to invest in my business and took newborn courses and mentorships with some of my favorite newborn photographers. I now offer family, maternity, and newborn portraits and have my own little studio.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been everything but smooth lol. I think my biggest struggle was finding my niche. When I first started out I wanted to photograph everything. I thought photographers should be able to photograph anything. In a sense that’s true, but if I really wanted to be good I need to focus on what I enjoyed the most and excel in it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a photographer in Tomball, Texas. My business is Steph Sanchez Photography. I specialize in family, maternity and newborn portraits. I do occasionally photograph high school and college seniors and small events.

I’m most proud of how far I’ve come and that I had the courage to put myself and my business out there. In the past, I was afraid of even mentioning to others that I was a photographer, for fear that I wasn’t good enough. Today, this is my baby and I love what I do!

What sets me apart from others I think, is that my business is centered on Jesus and who he is. He has given me the gift of photography to love on others and to show them how beautiful they are. I pray before each and every session, for my clients, their needs, health and that if there’s a need that I can help them with that He make it known to me. I truly want the best for each of my clients and love them. This is His business and I’m just his servant.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy are my clients. I truly love my clients and love to see them return with their growing families. As a mother myself, I get the importance of getting those photos of your babies in all stages of life. So seeing their babies, who become like my own, come back each year makes me so happy. Once they come to me, I become their Titi (aunt) Steph lol.
