Today we’d like to introduce you to Tawan Taylor

Hi Tawan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Tawan Taylor and I began this journey in 2016 with my husband Tyrone Taylor. In May 2019 I graduated with a Degree in Business Administration Of Applied Science.

I was born in Mobile, Al and was apart of a close knit Christian military family of five children. We did a lot of traveling as my father was in the military. My mother and father spent lots of time with teaching my siblings and I how to be smart, intelligent and dependent individuals. My parents worked very hard to build a foundation for us. Being apart of a military family has many benefits when it comes to traveling but we ultimately settled in a middle -class suburb in West Mobile, Al.

I went to college for many years but, I did not know exactly what I wanted to do. The only thing I knew were the core morals and values that my parents had instilled in me including knowing I could do anything I wanted to do.

After beginning a family with my beautiful children then ultimately marrying my husband, that’s where the journey began.

We opened a catering company after moving to Georgia in 2018. I was currently working in a dentist office at the time but knew I wanted my own company. One day I went home and informed my husband that I wanted to implement more into the company and begin wedding and event planning. He stated “ Baby I will always support you in whatever you want to do and I trust your decisions“. From there, with the support of my husband and children it was pretty simple. I went in to work one day and put in my two weeks notice. That was the beginning of a beautiful journey. I begin volunteering at a local wedding and event venue to get as much hands on experience as possible. Within the next couple years, I was managing and hiring staffing for the catering side so that my husband would have the support, while I focused on front end of the company. In addition I implemented d.j services,photography, floral, design, bartending services, and wedding and event planning.

We opened a venue in Georgia and eventually moved to Houston to begin the process of opening a venue. Since being in Houston I have added on rental products. Wedding and Event rentals is an amazing financial investment and I love that we added it on but, I fell in Love with the art of wedding and event planning. With my husband’s extensive knowledge in cuisines and beverages it has helped us gain loyal clientele.

I work closely with individuals to bring a personalized touch. I take the vision of what my clients originally have and add creativity and elegance. I try to focus on delivering the best quality on products and services. My commitment to my clients is to ensure a compelling and exceptional experience.

I’d like for people to know that dreams can definitely come true. If you ever question yourself on when to begin your dreams, the answer is now! Just pray and do it!

This has been an amazing journey and my dreams have been brought to life with grace, style and sophistication. God has allowed many doors to open and has continues to allow our cup to overflow with grace and mercy. Overall, he has guided us with knowledge and understanding of things, even when we do not understand them. It kind of you know, comes naturally with prayer.

I’d like to thank my husband and children for believing in me. Thanks to my mother, father and step parents for installing a great teaching system for me to succeed and my siblings for always being there for me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Time management…
Our biggest struggle in the beginning was time management. Managing multiple areas of your company can be somewhat challenging and daunting. Time management is a major part of the company and the quick understanding of this process with your company will lead to much better results.

Getting a great Team…
Staffing can be somewhat difficult, especially in the begging stages because you are looking for dedication. Many people will not dedicate their time and effort as much as you will for your company. This comes in time but, it does take exactly that, Time! Eventually you will build your team and it will be built strong!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Wedding And Event Planner. I specialize in creating beautiful events. I keep a listening ear while intaking everything an individual is looking for their wedding and event. I place all of the logistics together while collaborating with my team. I then, direct the day of execution to be sure their is a smooth flow.

Each stage of this process is different from the other and it takes precise time and dedication. I love what I do and enjoy making my clients happy.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I have read many books but overall I love reading books based on Building a company, Business Mindsets, Psychology, And Self Discipline. I am Christian raised and most importantly love learning about God and Truth. Therefore the Bible I would say is my best friend!

I love being dedicated to being a wife and mother. I love traveling and work out in my spare time
