Today we’d like to introduce you to The Creeps.
The Creeps, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The Creeps is a 3-piece Hard Rock band that formed in the fall of 2020. All members met through the School of Rock, a music school based in Clear Lake. Collin (Singer/Guitarist) founded the band there and Iran (Bassist) joined quite promptly. Carter (Drummer) joined a year later; also another former School of Rock student. Their inspirations draw from bands like Foo Fighters, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Queens of the Stone Age, Pantera, and various other rock and metal acts. With an incredible passion for heavy tunes and headbanging music, The Creeps consistently strive to bring intense energy to every performance. Most recently, they were awarded first place at the Houston Rodeo Rockstar competition and will be performing at the 2023 Houston Rodeo Parade.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing good comes easy. We have putten a lot of work into this band to continuously improve and sound better than the day before. We practice, and practice, and practice some more. We enjoy this dynamic because we are constantly pushing ourselves to improve both as individual musicians and collectively as a group. We are proud of where we are now and look forward to continuing to grow as a band in the future.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Apart from all the amazing events, we have had the opportunity to perform in; we take huge pride in our songwriting. When we write music, we mainly write for ourselves. As in…, we will write songs we would like to listen to. Each one of our songs is just a melting pot of all of our influences that result in something we can call our own. We’re also not afraid to change things up a little bit. Maybe some songs will be Heavy Metal, some Punk Rock, others Classic Rock. We love it all! So when we get to share these songs on stage and we see people enjoy our music, it’s so rewarding. Recently we just recorded our first EP which is in the process of being mixed and mastered, so were thrilled to put them on stream soon!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
The Houston music scene. Houston has an amazing community of musicians, bands, artists, and people who support local music. Since we started playing, we’ve met and befriended so many amazing people who share the same love for music as us. Everyone has each other’s back. We know our friends support our band and we support them in return. It’s all just one large supportive group of the coolest people in the city.
