Life & Work with Tina Stone of Livingston, Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Stone.

Hi Tina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Since I was a child I’ve always loved to cook for people. I started making my own birthday party appetizers in my early teens. Life got busy as a young adult but always hosted holidays so I could share my dishes. Catering began with my son’s junior prom. It was a hit. Then years later a coworker asked me to cater her wedding! I was hesitant because weddings are so special but it was a huge success and opportunity that became the start of my business. I’ve expanded into banquets, lunch meetings, fundraisers etc. it’s my passion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My main struggle even now is space. I need more room and storage! I’ve learned something new at every wedding to improve upon and work more efficiently. Staffing has been iffy but I have amazing friends and family that are always willing to fill the gaps.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a full time bank teller. I love the team of ladies I work with like family. As my catering business grows however I am becoming more known for that in the last few years. I try to keep my pricing budget friendly so even people on a lower income can have something special for any event. It makes me happy to have them text me and say I saved their day and the food was delicious!

What matters most to you? Why?
My family first and foremost. They support my passion to no end. From my husband cutting fruit and loading the trailer to my dad starting my smoker just right for a brisket order. And my mom always asking what’s next so she can pitch in.
Let’s not forget my clients though especially the return ones. They are the back bone. I want them to feel sure to have no worries that their guests will leave satisfied with full bellies.
