Life & Work with Tisa Penny

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tisa Penny.

Hi Tisa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I was a highly competitive acrobat, competing all over the world on TEAM USA and retired when I was 28. Then, I became a wife and a stay at home for 10 years. Then a divorce …(ICK, life changing for everybody), which meant I had to return to the workforce. I now work full time as a digital marketing manager for DONE FOR YOU Real Estate, run my own small business, 4ward Motion, on the side, teach acrobatics clinics/private lessons and am a brand ambassador for several fitness brands (KFT Brands, Wicked Bombshell, WOD Bottom, and Savvi). More importantly, I’m a wife, mom, stepmom and human, with the goal to inspire other humans to be kind to others and encourage strength and confidence!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
HA! I’m not even sure I know what a “smooth road” is! Listen, anyone who says they live an easy life, isn’t giving you any kind of true story. Life if hard…. and ugly at times. Training as an acrobat was hard. Standing and crossing your heart for the US National anthem, representing your country, is indescribable and a once in a lifetime opportunity. Hard road to get there, HELL YES. Becoming a wife and mother? HARD ROAD. Divorce? Maybe the hardest road I’ve travelled. Facing the workforce I had left a decade before… Life after divorce? Possibly the happiest I’ve ever been. Finding myself again. Finding my independence. Finding love again, and marrying the most amazing man. Gaining 2 more daughters. Finding an amazing remote job that still allowed me to be there for my kids. Starting my own small business and getting back into teaching acrobatics has been a dream.

But feeling loved and 100% supported in doing this has been the key to my success!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Having the chance to travel the world representing the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is pretty darn awesome. Not many people can say they have shared that same experience. Wearing that flag proudly and hearing your national anthem played is a pretty unique experience. But honestly, that’s all wonderful, but it’s the years of blood, sweat, and tears that will stick with me forever. Do I miss that? Um, no. But it made me who I am today. It taught me discipline, work ethic, and how to fight for what I want. What part of this life sticks with me today? Handstands. On everything. I think anyone who follows me on social will tell you I handstand on everything. 😉 I’m 40+ and can still handstand. That, alone, I’m proud of. 🙂

What I specialize in now (besides handstands), is being a creator and motivation influencer. My jobs allow me to create everyday. Whether it’s for social media, acrobatic choreography, or even being a mom/parent. My specialty? Being real. The good, the bad, and the ugly. So when you say “creator”, it’s only the way the message is shared. The content is real. My goal is to encourage people to look inside. Be you. And be kind.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Oh man…Covid. Covid has forced everyone to get more creative. We all spent months being at home. Isolated. This forced everyone to think outside the box. How to throw birthday parties, virtually. How to make dinner, when many things were hard to find at a grocery store. How to be around your loved ones, 24/7, with no breaks. EVERYONE got creative. I was no different. What I think many people struggle with today, is how to interact with other humans, since we spent so long away from one another. Social media has become that bridge. People can follow and “interact” with many people they will never maybe see in person in their life. But still, those people can give them the motivation they need to hear or see to make positive changes in their lives. Whether it be fitness, emotional, parenting, etc…. I like to say a play a part like that in some people’s lives.
