Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty Grant.
Hi Ty, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Ty Grant and I am an entertainer. I entertain people through tone and laughter. Bringing together different worlds with my spoken words music, and with skits that create nostalgic moments.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
With the path I’ve chosen, it wasn’t always a smooth road. I had some up and down with creating things. Having a hard time creating formed this fog of ideas that just go to waste. Many times I had to sit down and learn about my audience while learning about myself and what I want my audience to see from me. A few times, my work was stolen. The things I took time to create were stolen from me by bigger creators and they would take all the credit for themself. There is a lot that goes into being a creator, but at first, you have to be yourself through the whole purpose. Never lose sight of why you started, and who you do it for.
Over time, I see people who love you and people who just want to shine in the light you created yourself. Another struggle I faced, was not understanding that other people would not see me as a business. There were many times when I would do videos for others, promoting their business, and did not receive pay. Being an entertainer has its pros and cons, just have to learn the business and enjoy the moment.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in creating. I don’t really like to label myself because in my world I just like to let my mind roam free. For some reason, when I put a label on it it feels like I’m placing myself in a box. I make music, I do comedy, and I am an actor. I enjoy bringing light from myself into the characters. Enjoying how I can bring my emotion out and see myself on the big screen. Acting is more than acting, it is portraying yourself in this new character. I do comedy, for joy. Comedy is more than laughs, it’s bringing people together and having a good time while being able to connect with one another.
Laughter makes you forget issues for a moment and enjoy the moment, something that many people struggle with. In other words, laughter makes individuals realize life is worth more than living. Music, it’s my way to escape. I look at music as a way to escape what’s forming in my mind and put it on paper. This is a form of a safe place for me, but also for others. Becoming that representation for other people who is afraid to talk about these things. In reality, I become people’s thoughts in this world. I am a creator.
How do you define success?
I define success as living up to your expectations. Success isn’t all these big fancy cars, being rich, or having all these designers, I believe society made everyone think that’s how a person will be defined as successful. Success is about living up to things you set for yourself. Being able to praise yourself after completing a small task because the little things always make the big picture.
It’s about building this person you always wanted to be and then living in the light that you dreamed of. To me, success is enjoying where you at and where you came from. It’s not about stressing about where you’re going because you know the time and effort you put into your work will always have the right outcome.
