Life & Work with Victoria Ortega

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Ortega.

Hi Victoria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all began in 2006 when I started working for a very popular radio station in Houston, I was proud & I was Loud! We made sure the audience never forgot our slogan ” Latino & Proud!” I enjoyed everything about music, fashion, networking & meeting new people on the daily.

That chapter of my life ended the day I found out I was expecting my first baby, mid 2008. It was the greatest day of my life! It was something I had dreamed of for a very long time, Becoming a Mother.

The networking and community involvement never changed. If anything, I made sure to involve my son in the events I was a part of. It was a way for him to see how fortunate he was/is, as a lot of the events I was involved in were in less fortunate communities, communities I grew up in. It was a way for me to give back.

In 2013 we welcomed a baby girl. She is literally a mini-me but with a much stronger personality. She will do great things, huge things! I was admitted into the labor & delivery unit in Aug 2012 being 14 wks pregnant with her, being told I would miscarry. She proved everyone wrong! She is such a talented & smart little lady (@princess.libbyb). She spent the first week of her life in NICU, But GOD had other plans. Little missy pulled through and came home on Valentine’s Day 2013.

The many obstacles I’ve dealt with in life have made me the person I am today. Strong, Full of Faith, Kind & Giving.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I had to learn to manage my time wisely. From being a wife, a mom and a full time employee, time was something that I had to learn to use. I could no longer just drop everything and help out where I was needed. Learning to balance several things in a day is overwhelming. I have to admit, the amount of help from my dear husband has been incredible. Not only will he cook for us, but he cleans too! Something good came out of him being in the US NAVY for so long. (lol)

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
During my journey in the Radio World, I accepted a position as a Child Advocate & Dental Marketing Coordinator for a dental office in Houston. 10 Years later in 2014 exactly, I would then accept a Dental Office Manager position with Five Star Dentists in Pearland. At the office, I’m known as Vicky, the marketing guru & most laid-back office manager! (LOL) Not only do I manage my office but I try to be involved as much as possible with the community just as much as I was before.

From participating in various health fairs, to hosting in office events, to adopting families for the holidays, helping people is my passion.

I have found that helping people via Social Media to be helpful as well. I took it to Instagram, where I am now a mini Content Creator/Influencer. I share about almost everything. From daily life, product reviews, the best in Houston and surrounding areas.

I share as an individual (@Seroritavic) and as a family (@TheOrtegaDaily).

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My FAMILY (husband and kids) are what makes me and keeps me happy. Everyday, every minute & every second I get to spend with my loved ones keeps me smiling.

WORK that is meaningful keeps me happy. And when I say “work” it doesn’t mean just like being at the office. Work is so many things, from being able to finish my chores at home, from fixing up my garden, making sure that the advice I gave to someone worked.

Happiness is also POSITIVE THINKING, If my mind is at peace, I’m happy.

GRATITUDE, it’s probably the easiest way to make someone happy. A simple THANK YOU, can make the world go round.

FORGIVENESS, when you forgive someone or something, you let go of that knot that’s been clinging onto you, the amount of pressure you release from forgiving someone or something, is so satisfying and calming.

GIVING to others is another way I stay happy. I’ve always been more a giver than a taker. I give time, advice, friendship, love, an ear, a shoulder to cry on, I give myself in all ways possible. Because at the end of the day, what I do with the kindness of my heart, keeps me happy.

PERSONAL FREEDOM, because a person cannot be happy unless one determines one’s own fate and are left to make one’s own choices.
