Today we’d like to introduce you to Yanelli Villegas-Reyes
Yanelli, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I actually got my start in the esthetic industry at a really young age! My first job was at a small, mom-and-pop spa in a tiny town-when I say small, I mean just one esthetician, one nail tech, and then me, a 16 year old working the front desk. But that little spa is where i fell in love with the industry. My boss specialized in facials, and I was so moved by the relationships that she had with her clients and the trust they placed in her. I remember seeing women come in for acne treatments, barely making eye contact, their confidence shattered. But as their skin improved, their entire demeanor changed- they smiled more, held their heads higher, and seemed so much happier. That’s when I knew I wanted to help people in the same way After esthetics school, I went to specialize in acne for the first four years of my career and that passion for transformative skincare has never left me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. After a few years of working in skincare, I found a spa that truly pushed me to grow as an esthetician. I was learning so much, building amazing relationships with clients, and gaining a lot of confidence in my skills. Then unfortunately I was wrongfully let go for trying to build a small business of my own. At the time, it felt like a huge setback, and I honestly wasn’t sure what my next step would be . But looking back, I see that God was blessing me in disguise. He knew I was ready, even when I doubted myself.
My younger sister, Natalia, was also a huge help during this time. She always believed in me and encouraged me. Watching her become a business owner at such young age really inspired me, and I admire her so much.
That entire experience forced me to take a leap of faith, and now I have a space that’s completely mine, where I get to serve my clients the way I’ve always envisioned. It was a tough moment, but it led me exactly where I was meant to be, and I’m so grateful for that.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At Nelly’s Skin Studio, I specialize in customized facials, and lash lifts.
If we’re being transparent I’ve personally struggled with acne, so I deeply understand the challenges some of my clients face. That experience helps me connect with them on a more personal level. I tailor each treatment to their unique needs, whether it’s for acne, anti-aging, or simply maintaining healthy skin.
What sets me apart is the relationships I’ve built with my clients. Many have become close friends, and I truly value those connections. My goal is to not only improve their skin but to educate and empower them to take care of it long term.
I’m truly most proud of the trust that my clients place in me-not just for their treatments but for guidance on their skincare journey. It’s never about perfect skin, it’s about healthy skin!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
While I don’t believe in luck, I do believe that God has placed me exactly where I need to be. Throughout my journey, I’ve let myself be guided by my faith, as well as the love and support of my family and husband. They’ve been a constant source of strength, and their belief in me has given me the confidence to keep going, even when things weren’t easy. Every step, whether challenging or rewarding, has brought me to this point, and I trust that it’s all part of the plan that Jehovah has for me. Looking back, I see how everything-both the highs and lows- has shaped me, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the guidance, love, and wisdom I’ve received along the way.
