Today we’d like to introduce you to Yudy Gomez & Roger Acevedo
Hi Yudy & Roger, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
we’re Yudy Gómez and Roger Acevedo from Bogotá, Colombia. We want to share how our passion for travel has turned into an amazing adventure. We started out as actors and producers in Colombia, founding ZOÍ Productions with a focus on theater and audiovisual projects. Even though we worked on many projects in our home country, we always dreamed of exploring the world.
In 2014, we took the first big step toward that dream by moving to Mexico City. We spent two years immersing ourselves in the culture and cuisine, traveling through 15 cities thanks to our work with ZOÍ. While we couldn’t document everything we wanted, Mexico left a lasting impression on us. We hope to return someday to film in this incredible country!
Our quest for new experiences led us to New York in 2017. We settled in Newburgh, an hour and a half from Manhattan, and soon discovered that the city has so much more to offer than just its skyscrapers. The Hudson Valley, with its mountains and rivers, showed us a different side of the Big Apple, which we started calling “The Hidden Treasure of New York.”
With so many amazing things to show, we launched “Aventuras Yu y Ro” on YouTube and Instagram in 2019. What began with one video quickly turned into our passion, allowing us to document and share our travel experiences across the U.S.
During our time in New York with ZOÍ Productions, we worked on inclusion projects, including one of the first online theater productions during the pandemic and workshops with Cirque du Soleil artists. Despite the incredible experiences and people we met, we felt it was time for a change.
So, in the summer of 2022, we decided to move to Houston, Texas, to escape the cold New York winters and focus on “Aventuras Yu y Ro.” Houston welcomed us with open arms, and our community has rapidly grown on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, now totaling over 300,000 followers. The city offers a wide range of food and attractions, and we’ve enjoyed exploring state parks, attractions, and restaurants, discovering everything Texas has to offer. Even though the summer can be hot, the winters are much more pleasant compared to the North.
In addition, ZOÍ has continued to thrive in Houston. We now help local brands and businesses stand out on social media by creating videos and effective strategies. With over five years of experience, we provide a comprehensive approach to enhance online presence for businesses.
Our experience in Houston has been excellent in terms of quality of life and job opportunities. The city is friendly and family-oriented, with peaceful neighborhoods and a growing economy. While we still carry New York in our hearts, Texas is winning us over more each day.
In summary, moving to Houston has been a great decision. If you’re looking for a comfortable life full of opportunities, Houston is a fantastic choice. We, as Aventuras Yu y Ro, are excited to continue exploring this fascinating city and sharing our experiences with our community. Houston and Aventuras Yu y Ro are here to stay!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Leaving our home country and starting a new life in the U.S. was quite challenging. Our English isn’t perfect yet, so we’ve been working hard to practice and improve.
Starting out here involved going through many jobs, just like many immigrants do, along with tears, frustration, and feeling stuck. But we love this country, embraced its culture, and have been supported by wonderful people along the way. What we’ve learned most is that with discipline and faith, anything is possible.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As content creators, our focus is on exploring the U.S. We aim to visit all the states—there’s so much to see in this huge country. Currently, we’re making guides and sharing tips to help people discover the best spots in the country. In Texas, there’s a saying that “there’s nothing to do,” and we want to prove that wrong. We’re exploring Houston and have so many exciting projects planned. We can’t do this alone, so we really need the support and engagement of our audience.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
To us, happiness means hope and peace. It helps us be more empathetic and focused. Happiness is when we help people achieve their dreams, see their smiles through our guides, or hear them say “thank you.” Capturing and sharing moments from our travels with our audience is what we love. Traveling isn’t just a passion for us; it’s about connecting with people and experiencing new cultures.
