Luther Racelis of Texas city on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Luther Racelis shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Luther , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I am being called now to see my full potential as an artist. I was told once that I’ve been flirting with my talent for too long. I was afraid before of failure, but I have accepted as I owe it to myself to pursue music as I’ve had dreams my whole life to see where it goes.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Luther Racelis . I am a singer/ songwriter based out of Houston Texas , associated with Tinman records out of Los Angeles California . We are in pursuit of artistry that has no boundaries, blending genres and giving our listeners an experience they have never been a part of before. In life there’s boundaries but musically we do what we want.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I’ve always felt the fire to write and create as an artist. The world is telling me that it is now or never to be my true self and to stop ignoring that feeling. It is who I am and I shouldn’t fight it.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I remember my father throwing my guitar in the street telling me I’ll never get anywhere with music. That suffering fueled resilience to go harder and pursue goals regardless of whether you get to your goal or not. To never quit and believe in that faith in yourself.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
People come and go, music has always been there. Lovingly waiting for me. Whether I am successful or not it will always be what I do and will always be my first love. With that being said, the biggest lie my industry tells me is with enough hard work you will make it. The truth is the talent will speak for itself if it is present.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
I would regret not giving my music an opportunity to live up to its potential.
