Meet Abiel Esau Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abiel Esau Garcia.

Hi Abiel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started with photography around 2014. I had just bought the iPhone 6+ around the time I met a group of friends who were into the car/truck scene. I started photographing and recording our adventures everywhere we went. Not too long after, an old girlfriend of mine had a Canon XSi laying around so I started toying with the idea of using it over my phone. I tried for a while to wrap my head around the modes the camera had to offer and to learn in general how to use a DSLR camera. I had a friendly competition with friends who were shooting locally, and as we all were on this journey we would get together to go photograph around town. During these meet ups, I started learning about film photography through my friend Joe Robles and Luis Juarez. I took it upon myself to learn it over digital photography because I loved the colors and the awesome feeling of developing my own work at home. So with that being the foundation, I started shooting a lot of what was around Pasadena with friends and over time naturally I had my long breaks from shooting because life would kick in. Years later in 2018, my friend Zulu introduced me to Rap-A-Lot. I then started coming to Houston more often for events and meeting great people alike and the rest came naturally.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been easy. It was a struggle figuring out how to get my work to be seen while at the same time trying to live off of my photography. I had to do free work for many I didn’t want to, but I always saw what opportunities could potentially arise from doing so. I just kept my head above the water and kept being consistent till I met the right people who appreciated my work and put me in positions to win. Above all still maintain a healthy lifestyle with myself while learning.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in digital/film photography, cinematography, and I direct. I pride myself in my turnaround times, and my personality it’s what I’m best know for. Keeping up with all my people and relationships across the world in this industry. What sets me apart is being myself, I’ve never been the type to switch up I’ve kept it real and true for everyone to see.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
