Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Alfy.
Adam, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My friend and ex-roommate, James, was a big time DJ in college. I often accompanied him to gigs and eventually picked-up the craft for myself. I then started performing at my own events, and kept practicing in my room every day. In 2013, I decided to advertise my services to more people, and at that time, I only had a small midi DJ-Controller. A few years and many clients later, I now perform with 2 turntables, speakers, wireless microphones, and lights. I am also in production of a song with my own beats, and vocals from a wonderful singer named Jessarae Bailey.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but that is the best way to learn and overcome. Some struggles along the way of achieving and growing my DJ business were financial issues. I just graduated from the University Of Houston in 2014 and money was very tight. I decided to pick-up more hours at my day job, place a pause on buying new equipment, and save up. I finally acquired the money I needed, bought the equipment, and also started marketing via the internet.
Please tell us about Royal Court Entertainment.
I am a DJ for weddings, birthdays and corporate events. I specialize in live mixing and scratching, and I am known for my great mixing skills and MC performances. I also provide karaoke service and fun wedding games. I take great pride in making someone’s wedding day a once-in-a-lifetime experience. What sets me apart from others? I MC events and keep the crowd entertained and on their feet.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood would definitely be playing with my cousin’s DJ and beat-maker toy. It was a kid toy that had a mini keyboard, and a few buttons that made drum, crash and snare sounds. I would play with it the whole time my parents visited their house and would get mad when we had to leave, because I just loved it so much!
