Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Gardner.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Comanche Services was founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. I grew up learning the tricks and trades of construction and woodworking from my dad and grandpa but graduated college with a Criminal Studies degree. When the storm unexpectedly destroyed so much of Houston, I couldn’t sit by and watch my city suffer. Instead, I got to work. It didn’t take long for me to realize that this is what I should have been doing all along. Thus, Comanche Services was born! Little did I know there was much more involved in starting and building a business. Luckily I had my fiance and her business marketing degree to help in the areas I lacked. At first, Demi just ran the website, online marketing, and client relations, but she has since grown to love woodworking just as much as I do. When it comes to the backbreaking, labor-intensive work, I couldn’t make it without my college roommate and right-hand-man, Bolton. My crew also shares my passionate spirit to create new things and preserve and restore old things. Every project is a labor of love. We are very excited to continue to build, rebuild, and create your little piece of Houston. Sometimes all it takes is a little sprucin’ up. To date, we’ve built out a boutique in The Heights, done numerous home renovations, and new construction projects across the Greater-Houston Area.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Overall, it has been a pretty smooth road. At first, it was hard getting my name out there and getting new projects. We’re starting to pick up quite a bit now and keeping ourselves busy. Although it is still sometimes difficult finding reliable contractors when I need extra people for bigger jobs.
Comanche Services – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
You name it; we do it! We do everything involved in building a home or business from the foundation up to the roof. We can build new things from scratch, renovate and restore the old, and provide residential and commercial maintenance. We specialize in commercial and residential renovations and custom kitchens and bathrooms. We’re so proud to be given the opportunity to transform people’s dreams into reality through hands-on craftsmanship, and even more satisfied when we see their smiling faces once the job is done. We are a smaller company, so that gives us the ability to work in a more personal and responsive way with our clients. We don’t try to juggle a bunch of projects at one time, so our current client is always our most important client. Whatever the project may be, it always gets our undivided attention and 100% of our time and energy.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success as having a business that provides a service that people seek out over other competitors in the same field. I also see business as being successful when it pays its employees well and offers a decent living for them and their families, instead of seeing them as numbers and dollar signs. Moral success is just as significant as financial success. My ultimate goal, my ideal level of success, is to either build or be part of the building process of a huge project, like a skyscraper or stadium. I would love to make my mark on Houston in a monumental way.
